Thermostate and Fan Bimetalic Plate.

Thank you for the information on the Thread last year about TSB 07-08-98. Took my 99 4X4 DC into West Valley Dodge gave them the TSB and told them what mine was doing compaired to the rest of the threads. No cost still under warranty. Tested the Fan and replaced the Thermostate. It now runs at 175 Degree's all the time instead of 190 and climbing to 220 towing.

I haven't towed sence the change in thermostate.

I have also givin this TSB to several othe DC owners.

By the way after my second engine flash My mileage has finally improved to 17. 9 MPG unloaded Freeway miles no wind and 15. 9 MPG Highway and around town. It shifts better and smother too.

Richard,I just replaced my t/stat this morning,drove around town a bit today and i am very happy to report the same,I was running about 190 also with fan kicking in and out,lower temp should improve everything,it was shure an easy fix wasn't it? Funny thing I have been driving like this for about a year,I feel like a fool,not knowing better,so anyone reading this,keep in mind these motors are really bullet proof but you have to change coolant evey year and watch temp gauge, best regards, jdm joe

Pete, you're lucky because the very best dealership is very close. Russ Carrigan Motors in Morgan is the best many of us along the Wasatch front have worked with. They're family owned and operated. It's even worth Salt Lakers to get their trucks serviced there.

How was West Valley to work with? I live in Ogden and bought in Tooele and looking for a good shop closer to home.

West Valley Dodge is getting better. To me I it seems like I used to have to prove it before they would believe me. So I started to document everything. My mileage I started a chart on every fill up. The clicking in the front end was reproduced on the service floor. The right window electric motor problem they took my word for it. It would work, not work, Stick half way open or closed, which ever way you looked at it at the time That was covered under warranty also some kind of reistat. This happened more when the sun would be on the passenger side and heat it up! When it cooled down it started to work agin. I do get the smell of diesel from under the hood of the truck but not always it is an occasional happening. Replace the ceil at the firewall and hood! whats the answer to that. Had a ceiling light that would not work and that ended up being a wire that was not hooked up.
I also have to find out if I am going to get that Spounge reaction out of the transmission when I tow. But that should not happen now that I have repaced the thermostat.

All of that aside they have had my truck ready to go in not more than 2hrs because I waited for it and made previous appointments. All in all I really think that they want to service the customer but the have to prove out the proublems also. If you need a third opionion bring in the service area representative.
