once you've gone through the transmission/transfer/etc. why sell it?

you gonna go back to a VE pump and a Getrag transmission?

all 3 of my trucks have been 2wd... I loved my 91, but it was a weak nut compared to my 97!!! the 97 also rode better and had a lot more interior room (I'm 6'4"... knees meet dash in a 1st gen single cab!)

the p7100 injection pump and NV4500 would make me "deal with" the 2nd gen 4wd setup... other than a stronger transfer case and locking hubs, the 1st gen really doesn't have any argument... in a 2wd truck, I see NO reason to go 1st gen.

I love the LOOKS of a 1st gen, but not enough to give up 100+rwhp and all that interior room.

one of these days I will probably buy another 1st gen... it will be a 4x4 5sp. w/ 4. 10's. either a single cab or a whooped up club cab that will have the wheelbase severely shortened. it'll get a welded rear diff, an air locker up front, a little lift and some big tires, and it'll be my offroad toy. don't need 400+hp then.

At the risk of getting dismembered I tend to agree.

Name with held

No reason you can't put 600to the ground with a First Gen.

And afetr the abuse I gave my 241 HD and it still looks virtually unused inside, I don't know that the old style was stronger!!LOL maybe it was the Amsoil lube?

you and I know you ain't gonna put 600 to the ground w/ a factory VE!!!

but a 215 pump will do it no problem

I figured the old iron case trasnfer cases were stronger... oh well, one LESS argument for the 1st gen!!

the thing that kills me is the price... try finding a clean club cab for under $7k!!! I got my 98 12v quad short for $8600!! Oo. Oo. and it's as clean as a lot of $9-10k 1st gens I see... no thanks!

yeah your right, with all the money I have in it now, I probably have to keep it forever, or at least another 100k. I want to put manual hubs, Dynatrac has a nice set-up, waiting to hear back from someone on how they like it.

Oooooooooo... ... this is gonna cost someone a RWHP penalty... ... were's the stick... . ;)

pb.....

just an observation here..... there are at least 2 VE pumped trucks

making 600RWHP+... and..... there are more in the works..... if rumor is accurate...

Actually I think that both are capable of doing the deed but not if either are in "stock" condition..... either that or I've suffered some unexpected head trauma... ;)

pb. .

I'm happy without lock out hubs, neither, less moving parts!LOl

I swear First Gen and 12 V 2nd Gen prices have gone up the last year. If its under $7000, there isn't much left of it.

I was pretty upset I had to pay $300 for my 92, and it took about $1000 to get it on the street, I hate spending that kind of cash!!Hhehehehe :D

My best vehicle purchase of my life.

man, I'm with ya... getting out of the truck to engage 4wd doesn't really appeal to me, but no sealed hubs, etc. for something that's going to be abused/neglected, the old school hubs are a bonus...

and the leaf springs make a lift simple

old truck: 97 2500 5sp - 450hp/1000ftlbs

new truck: 98 QC/SB auto - slow for now

HMMMMM that looks like someone's signature. Both of those have P7100 pumps whats the deal. Where is the HP

How much money do you have to put into a P7100 to get to 600hp

How much do you put into a VE $375-$400 for a new head/rotor.

Oh by the way Forrest that 26 housing you sold me a couple of years ago was the same one that I was using when I got the numbers in my sig. Thanks :D My Getrag is still holding up to whatever I throw at it.

Stomp

glad to see the housing workin' for ya! :)

also glad to see a 1st gen makin' some power!!!

hey man, gimme a break, I had a set of $350 injectors and a $250 HX40!! not bad for 450rwhp IMHO...

I've got a little better budget this time ;)

how much money do you have to put into a 215 pump to make 600hp? let's see... I got my 4k GSK for $100, the ground plate was free, and the rack travel mod tips I got from Fulmer? they didn't cost $375-400 ;) Fulmer made 844 w/ his home-tweaked 215 pump... he probably doesn't want that repeatedly plastered all over the net, but that's not too shabby IMHO!!!! :p

go ahead and post up when a VE modded or not lays down over 800rwhp :p

;) ... ... ... Ooooooo... . pffffttt... . Jimmy has VE envy, he just won't admit it... ;) gotta luv a good sense of humor... either that or don't drive any gen but the 1st gen... WAY TO GO STOMP !!!!!!!

PB... .

Hey thanks Forrest... oh...
go ahead and post up when a VE modded or not lays down over 800rwhp
... keep your eye's peeled THIS year for some surprises coming outta the 1st Gen/VE group... .

All I can say is each day is a mind blower... . when I "started" on this hobby a few years back, 200 honest RWHP was a big goal to reach... . well, that's been dropping like leaves in winter the last couple years... . it warms my heart to see guys like Stomp (working with Ponci's Diesel), KTA Cummins (doing it on his own) and a few others reaching for the big numbers, and, actually doing it on #2 fuel only to boot... .

BOMB ON DUDE(S)... . :D:D:D

lookin' forward to it!!

DonM (am I allowed to say that name on this board???) is teasing w/ some big numbers from VP pumps and 7. 3 powerstrokes this year too!

I don't care what it is, as long as it's burning diesel!!!

there's a reason my AIM username is "drunk on diesel" :)

Wow, where have I been during this thread :-laf , just now reading it 3 pages long... I'm sure Fulmer made all that HP with no money into injectors either right  . Plus thats west coast (sorta) numbers, right Stomp ;) :-laf ...

C'mon now Forrest, you're still thinking the ways of years past, Joe D, 200rwhp max etc. . 1st gens have come a long way.

I think he got those II injectors back when they were still under a grand.

you can get 370's for about $300... w/ a $100 set of governor springs, a home ground plate, and some tweaks, you've got enough fuel for over 600rwhp. not too shabby IMHO. plus you have an NV4500 behind it, more leg room etc.

PLEASE don't get the idea that I "dislike" 1st gens! I love 'em! :D

just not as much as some guys seem to ;) :p

Come on now, don't forget the air. Sure ain't gonna make 600hp with a hx35-12.

I'm not doubting you, but I'm sure Dave Dunbar will doubt you when you say 600rwhp is so easily obtainable. Dave has a mobile dynojet that he pulls to events here in the midwest. Doesn't seem like there were very many trucks at IRP and Scheids event that went over 600rwhp... ... Seems to be a bunch of 600 'internet' hp trucks :-laf :-laf .

You are right though, as far as best bang for the buck, the 2nd gen might be the way to go. Already have the D80, nv4500 and p-pump etc. Just some of us wanna be different. Hard to find a cheap 1st gen in decent shape though:mad:. .

I hear ya there!!! they definately hold their value!!!

you know you're not gonna make 600hp on an H1C, right? ;) :p

I'm gonna see if I can squeeze 600 out of 370's and a 215 pump... I'm sure I'll fall a little short, but it'll be fun to try! :D
