Sounds like your truck has already had a good half-life. Keep it for a while to get your money's worth out of those new parts. I'm biased, but I think you should definitely scoop up a first gen while supplies last. They're the classic trucks of our day! I, too, have seen the prices of these rigs go up and up recently. I wonder why…?

I wonder why

Maybe it is the simplicity of the beast. Rumor has it that 2003 injectors are 600 dollars a hole, that is a tough pill to swallow! These trucks have gone unreal distances with little or no expense. No computers, no mass of electronics, sure the new trucks are nicer to drive and look at, but I am not so sure they do the job any better. The old trucks are better on fuel, if you can swallow a little pride, you soon see the reason the early trucks are coming up in value. Just my market opinion. A first generations's cost per mile is much better than the third gens will ever make. Glen

not to beat a dead horse, but the 2nd gen 12v's do even better than the 1st gens...

You are probably correct and their values are reflecting it. Several times while trying to buy a 2nd gen 12 valve, I would see a 24 valve in comparable condition bring less. I really wanted a 95 to 98 extended cab five speed to replace my 03 with. Find a nice one and lots of others have found it too. I wonder how long it will be before NADA picks up on the current trend. Why have 1st gens been give away in the past and now command a good price? I think it has to do alot with having a truck that just looks different and is tough as nails, how many 72' era dodges do you see running around anymore? I see a million 2nd and 3rd gens everyday. Old cool tough body style with ctd power and probably the most dependable vehicle ever built status, plus those great two tone paint jobs that most newer trucks don't have. I know why they're going up in value and it's starting to catch on, sorry "other" generation owners. The W models will be worth more than 2nd gens soon, just wait and see.

I've been seriously considering buying a 2nd gen 12V. . I'll keep my 93 of course. . I drove a 98 QC yesterday (customers,,wasn't for sale)and it seemed to be more cramped in the cab than my 93. also there's a lot less room in the engine area. . The thing did run well... I'm still looking at 98s but the more I think about it the more I think a P- pumped 93 W a NV4500 would be a much better truck for me. . I'm still on the fence though and I'm in no hurry as I won't get another chance to buy a truck for a while so I have to do it right. .

I remember seing one or two P Pumped 1st gens hitting the classifieds. . I should of payed more attention... .

Carry on... .
