This Dually Tire Stuff is Getting Ridiculous!

Well, after doing all of the research, I finally decided called a Firestone dealer to get a set of Transforce tires for my truck, after 3 days of looking, the dealer found out from his warehouse that they're on a national back-order.

Guess I'm gonna try Coopers.

I do feel lucky, though, I've gotten 61,000 out of the stock ones, even with towing a big fifth-wheel quite a bit.

I think the real point is we are getting screwed on seriously limited tire choices in this odd ball, Dodge dually only, tires size. The Goodyears stink IMO and I've never been a fan of Coopers. There are Generals on mine now and that about rounds out the choices in that size.

I think you'll be happy with the Coopers. Just rotate them religiously to keep the wear right. I did mine every 5K when I changed oil.

I think Mastercraft (made by Cooper) has a tire now that fits. I had their Courser AT's on my '01 (16") and loved them. If they would have had them a year ago I wouldn't have gone with the 19. 5's.



I've got 54K on my Mich XDE-MS and that's only a little over half wore out. I'm thinkin' I should get 90K out of them... and that's pulling more than any "5'er" will ever weigh. I'd be giddy if I got 100K... finally an investment in this truck that actually paid for itself. Oo.

Can be hard to do at times... . especially if you rack up that many miles in say a week or two. last thing I want is to hoist those heavy things around. Got a qoute from Big O this morning of $1675 for 6 Michelins LTX/ MS's. Still going to try to push these GSA POS's another 25k and get some 19. 5's

I got 65K out of a set of 235/85-16's Michelin LTX MS on my 99 and they barely looked worn when I sold the truck,damn good tire. I will be paying the money for those bad babies again when it comes time for tires for the 05 .

I just put a set of MasterCraft A/T's on my truck yesterday.



I got 63,000 from the factory GSA's and 56,000 from the MasterCraft C/T's. The C/T is not even a rated tire, and is fairly aggressive. The A/T is a 50,000 mile tire and lacks the side lugs, but has a center bar.



I paid $875 for 6 and I'm guessing 65,000 miles.



I'd do a more streetable tread, but I do some sloppy barn lots and out of the way horse camps.

I tried running all sorts of different pressures with the Goodyeartosell tires and they bounced at 40/45/55/70/80

Did not matter what I put in them.

I run the TOYO's at 75 front and 70 on the duals.



I got them for 201 CAD a piece Installed and balanced with road hazard and free rotations. Exactly half what the Badyear tire store tried to tell me was a good deal on the factory replacements after all their extra charges for balancing and road hazard.



I had to wait a few months for these as they had just released them when I found out about them. Well worth the wait.

Michelin LTX M+S are an excellent choice. Just bought 12 last month. very nice ride, mileage, and traction.

I've always had similar issues whenever trying to buy truck tires.



My experience with Cooper tires has been that they're the best tires I've ever used. With the possible exception of the Bridgestone commercial tires currently on my '91 Ford. I had Coopers on my '91 half ton, and they were AWESOME. Looked brand new when I sold the truck 35,000 miles after installing them. Perfect tires. Great handling, great durability, and lower price than the others I considered.

What tires came stock? The stock Mexican made Ameritrac tires on my truck are almost worn out at 20k. I have heard good things regarding the Coopers too, although I am leaning toward the Michelins based on my good luck with their tires in the past.

Those Toyo Open Country M/T tires are not available in the USA. I see you live up north in Canada, the Canadian Toyo site has them listed and available at Canadian dealers.
