I sit here in a doctors office parking lot waiting for my uncle thinking about how these trucks are getting more popular to steal...

So for those of you who have either had an attempted theft or have gotten their trucks back after it was stollen I have a few ?'s

Did you have a factory alarm?

Did you have the Sentry Key?

What did they do to get the truck started?

I am wondering because I am thinking about doing a kill setup and would like to know what has been done to take the trucks.

Thanks for the info guys...

no alarm, no cut off switch... just an "Autolock" on the brake pedal..... there is no possible way to steal my truck by driving it with that on the brake pedal... of course if they want your rig they will tow it or something but it will definitly not be driven off... . I am a claim manager for a insurance (hey no boos or hisses  ) and I have yet to see a claim come in with this item on a vehicle... . see the "club" claims come in all the time (the club is a total joke)... definitly worth the 50. 00..... my two cents

on edit I relieze your question was to the people that have already stolen ... mine has not been... . sorry. my mistake... .

Oh thats ok, it is good input where do you get those? I know if they want it they will tow it, but then again that is where the 12ga. shotgun comes into the equaion :D

My truck was stolen twice second time with an auto lock on the break petal. They just bent it out of the way and drove the truck with it attached. it must be pretty easy to start with channel locks. Now I have an alarm with starter kill and video survailence around the house. Im still not convinced they wont try to steal it a third time.

tear gas!

I dunno at that point I would be considering a tear gas canister rigged up on the alarm so if it moves they won't be liking life.....

wow... . tuff town you live in!!... I will bet you that the autlock was not on tight as I have tried and tried to bend it and to no avail... . if you put it on tight so no movement at all on either the brake pedal or that lock itself you cant bend it... nor move it out of the way... . thus allowing the truck to be put in gear... .

MCrossley... I bought mine at Kragen... Get THE TRUCK LOCK as it is bigger and fits better around the brake pedal arm... and lets put it this way... . it will keep the "honest theives" away... the joyriders... . professionals... cant help you there

I have a few tricks up my sleave....

I have some ideas on what I am going to do so we will see, nothing will keep it from being towed but there are many things to keep it from being driven... . That is all I am after... .

I've wondered if the Sentry Key system can be circumvented. I'm guessing it would be pretty difficult to do w/o actually making a matching key, which would be an inside job, so to speak. Anyone ever hear of anyone stealing a DC vehicle with a Sentry Key?

with the sentry key, you have to have BOTH original keys or one original key AND a DRB to program a new key. I don't think many thieves have a DRB or access to both original keys at the same time. OTOH My turbo temp monitor bypasses the Sentry key in mine to keep the truck running but I don't thinkit will let the truck start w/o the key. but they could take it as long as they keep the EGT's up to keep the TTM active.

I've never heard of an AutoLock, but the Club has been around for a long time, hence the increased chances of more reports. Anything that depends on something going around the outer rim of the steering wheel is suspect. Anybody every use a hacksaw to cut a wheel? They cut quickly - it's soft steel, and there isn't much to it. No, I didn't learn this from a previous career or passtime.

Is the Sentry key decoder built into the PCM? What about a thief carrying an extra PCM (common issue with other brands)? Howevever, I think I read that the 06 has another module that would need to be replaced, and it needs the Star Scan to initialize it.

that is the problem in that you can bypass it for the remote starters and like you said the egt shutdowns, if they can be wired to bypass for those it can be bypassed by other means, that is why I make the statement if you are comfortable with electronics anything is possible...

I have read several good threads on protecting these trucks from theft. Some talked about installing a disable switch in the cab, but I do not remember what circuit they were tapping into. Another popular option was to go under the hood and remove a relay for the fuel pump or other critical system that would disable the vehicle. What is the chance of a crook having a relay with them?

I am interested in installing some type of protection above the factory systems, so I will keep an eye on further posts as well.

well then you need to tie the low preasure switch to a remote starter so when the air gets low the truck fires up and you have plenty to keep going lol

I would like to have a circuit that works with the key so its always protecting with no driver input. Shut the truck of and its disabled, turn the key and its good to go.

My concern with add on systems is they look pretty easy to undo, take a peek under the dash, disconnect and reconnect the obvious aftermarket wires and your good to go.

I think the Sentry key is the best for theft of vehicle and an aftermarket system is better for break ins.
