Nice looking Camp!!!
Someone on DTR mentioned something about wheel clamps. What on earth are these?
How much do the Accuride's need to be bored out and how much will this cost?
What is a source for Accuride wheels at a decent price?
What are you guys paying for Hankooks. I cannot seem to get below $215/tire regardless for a 225 70 19. 5? I was looking at the AH06. Pavement pounder here... .
Do you guys carry a spare?
Thanks. I have no idea what the wheel clamps are that they might be referencing. I bought my wheels from a junk yard so, I don't know the best source for getting Accuride's. I did find that one of my wheels is bent and has 0. 010" of run out on it after I did all the machining and powdercoating. Guess that is what I get for not checking first. It causes a slight vibration at about 65 mph on the speedo, which is now 5. 1% slow, so I called Rickson and ordered another wheel. They send it with the correct pilot and can powdercoat to just about any color you want. That will give me a spare since I will just buy another tire for the new rim and take the bent one as my spare.
Since I just sent one of my buddies a check to have my wheels put on while I was gone, I don't remember exactly what he paid for them. Seems like the Hankook's were about $235/ea at Discount Tire. The bill of sale is in my truck but, I am too lazy to walk out to our parking lot here at work right now. I went with the DH01's because of the amount of snow I encounter in the mountains out here as well as the fact that with my race team, I am continually dragging my 40' enclosed trailer across the desert somewhere to get to an event site. The stock grass cutter tires that were on this truck almost got me stuck in Moab last year in a canyon we had to go down in and I had to unload the trailer to get out of it.
I went up skiing for the weekend my first weekend back in the states. I was impressed with how well the DHO1's did in the snow. It was snowing like heck on Sunday coming home and they did very well.
As for the pilot, these wheels are hub centers. There is a little tolerance on that and you need to leave room for powdercoat thickness but, you certainly wouldn't want to over bore them. I'm no machinist so, I hate to start quoting number. Hopefully someone a little more experienced will jump in wiht that answer. If not, I will ask my buddy that did the machining for me and see what his thoughts are. I know we discussed it the day we were doing the machine work but, don't remember what his answer was.
I have no idea what it would cost to have a machine shop do it, mine were done in a state of the art Biomedical machine shop that a friend runs
