Any mods? My 06 only did it when running the programmer on it.
If you slap the throttle hard and lift quickly it won't back down right away, that is normal even with stock parts. If you are cruising at steady speed and lift off the throttle it should drop evenly, If it doesn't then it is time to investigate. One of the test for injector wear and balance is free rev the engine to 3000 rpms and hold for 10-15 seconds then lift all the way off the throttle. The rpm drop should start almost immediately and should be smooth down to idle. Any hangs or notchy drop means there is an issue somewhere.
My pal that has the truck in his shop can do an injector kill test with his scanner. Would that shed any light on the issue?
75 hp injectors?doesn't really say much about the injectors. Were they built of new injectors, reman.your old injectors?
I understand about the engine run on after lift but this is a bit longer and scary at times.
You stated it did before the injectors and tuner, is it better or worse now?
A tuner and larger injectors are just going to make it worse. I can tell you from experience, just STOCK, if you slap the throttle hard enough in a parking lot the pucker factor is high, you WILL get some dirty looks from by-standers.
The time of the engine run on is proportional to how far and how long you shoved the throttle, it will vary. Short answer, don't do that.
