On my 95 I had a throttle cable fall off about 3+ years ago. I went to our local Dodge dealer and bought the updated part and installed it in my own repair shop. Now this year Chrysler sends me a recall notice, they will replace the offending cable free of charge. And they go on to say if the repairs have been done already they will reimburse me for the parts and 1. 5 hr labor. . So I send the parts bill and my shop bill to Mopar. They refuse to pay my labor. The explanation is if you do your own work NO PAYMENT FOR LABOR!! Now I have a business licence and a real repair shop, should my "real shop" be paid for the repairs? DMC says no.

P. S. My shop rate is about 1/2 of in town rate.

What do you expect from a company that took five years to admit they had a problem with the cable and only did a recall when forced to by the federal government? Be happy you got anything at all.

I had the recall done, then the cable kept falling off on the injection pump,, no throttle.

They put a bigger ball on it, hope that works!!!!!

Whats even better...

You thinks thats bad what about the throttle rod recall they finally decided to replace that piece of !?$%#&+@$$##*. Since I replaced that 25000 miles ago I guess I will put the old one back on and have them install another new one. As they say How do ya like me now. Theres more than one way to skin a cat, I guess i shoud put my frayed throttle cable back on and have them do that too. Man this gets better HAHAHA. Don't forget the recent hood latch recall as well!!!!!!!!!!! Turbine Dude.

How about these recalls on my '95s, my Toyota PU has had none

Secondary Hood Latch Lubrication

Ignition Switch Wiring Overheating

Coil Spring Tower Reinforcements

Hydraulic Clutch

Vacuum Check Valve

Secondary Hood Latch Bracket

Steering Wheel Back Cover

Doesn't it state if you had to pay for the repairs and have proof that you did. They would reimburse you for it. Where on the statement does it say it must be performed by the dealer? Some thing smells here. I have the reciept for when mine was replaced a couple years ago. A Ford diesel shop replaced mine. They are also a Cummins shop too. But I know I will be in the same boat as you. I wont see one penny from them.

I read it as that they will reimburse parts costs, but not your labor cost if you did it yourself. If another shop did it, who knows? I think that they should though.

Did my own a couple years ago and sent in the reciepts the other day.

on the bright side

Look at it this way, at least sense you did the work yourself, you weren't out the expense of going around fixing all the stuff the dealer frilled up! :p
