The throttle rod on my 1994 broke yesterday. I got a replacement rod from the dealer today and the curved tubular section is 1 3/4 inches longer and will not work. The parts guy said that was the only rod listed for my truck. I double checked this with another dealer and got the same part number -05011959AB. Does the fact that the rod is longer than my old rod mean that my truck missed the throttle cable recall even though the old rod has the metal ends? Or does it mean that I need to replace some of the linkage parts. I am considering cutting a section out of the new rod but something just doesn't make sense here since this is the only rod available from the dealer. I figure someone must have had this problem judging by all of the "broken throttle rod" entries in the 12v forum. I plan to call the dealer tomorrow and check on the recall and get their take on the problem but would really like some experienced input before I talk to them.
