This post is purely speculative at this point, but at many requests to put a stop to rumors, I will fill everyone in on what is being planned.
As it is planned right now, DieselSport Promotions, LLC will be planning a drag race, show-n-shine, and dyno at the Indianapolis Raceway Park June 14th, 2003. And YES there will be a truck pull at the Hendricks Co. Fairgrounds. IRP is the same dragstrip as the NHRA Nationals, they have many facilities for us and there is a large campground across the street from the track called Raceview. We are waiting for final approval from IRP's President at this time. The new title of the event is the Diesel Pickup Nationals.
The Turbo Diesel Register is currently planning a Turbo Diesel Tech to accompany this event. The preliminary schedule is to have Registration June 11th at a campground (TBA) then June 12th seminars from OEM representatives. June 13th will be seminars from the Performance industry. Robert Patton will have more as things develop, so keep an eye out for that information.
Although it won't matter to you Cummins guys, the Ford camp will be hosting a similar event on Indianapolis' Eastside with a plant tour on the 13th.
Our hopes are to get the GM boys involved too.
Saturday all of the diesel camps will converge on Indianapolis Raceway Park for the day's events. Once we conclude the drag race, we form the largest diesel convoy ever to the County fairgrounds for the Diesel Pickup Nationals truck pull.
Reason for moving the event from Muncie was to combine the TDR Nationals and Thunder in Muncie. People don't have to decide between the two events. I can concentrate on the competitions and Robert can start what we think will be a big hit with the turbo diesel technical discussions, dinners, etc.
Once again, this is very early in the game so I will keep you abreast as information becomes available to me. Thank you.
