Who makes good tie rod ends for the 03-07 steering?

I am doing ball joints, shocks, and hubs in the next month or so and figure I may as well do tie rod ends at the same time.

Thanks.

Man... i have never really found anything... I have used Thuren Fabrications steering kits w/o problems though... .

Thuren is also developing a new kit that doesn't require drilling the knuckles but no ETA yet. Normally people just put the 08. 5+ steering on and call it good, its not too expensive if you know anyone at the dealer.

Oh BTW his website is terrible, a new one is in the works but your best off just emailing him, -- email address removed --

I have read mixed reviews on the 08. 5+ stuff, so I am not convinced it would be an upgrade.

Aren't there clearance issues with the 08. 5+ and MH diff covers?

Nevermind my wife just reminded me... . Mag Hytech... . what would i do with out er? Anyway i have used the thuren stuff and mh covers and had to grind just a lil, not really noticeable. I think that the new steering is a lil bigger in diameter than thurens so its a possibillity...

Lucky man... .

Not to get off topic, but that was ever the deal with the steering campaign? Supposedly they changed the entire system, tierods, tubes, pitman arm etc... I never had it done, because I had no looseness and I didn't trust any dealer around here to get the toe right after the swap. I was and am still happy with how it handles. Were those parts any better? what was the improvement?

The new linkage is beefier and eliminates toe change. The old style linkage has no parts availability through the dealer network and you can bet not from the aftermarket either soon

The 08. 5 linkage is definitely beefier and with t-type steering should eliminate some of the problems. Then again, I got 200k out the OE tie rod ends and they still were not really bad. Putting the new linkage on definitely tightened things up and made the steering more predicatable.

I believe Raybestos still has the old style in their premium line. That would be my choice if I staed with OE. Same with the ball joints.

So is the new style not as bad as I read about on some posts?

My OEM 05 steering has never gotten a complaint out of me. I get a slight right pull, but my right upper BJ was on the edge of OEM specs 25K miles ago, hence the change.

Who sells a complete 08. 5+ setup?

Mopar sells it fairly reasonable, comes as complete assy. , more than likely you will need the pitman arm also. I wouldnt get the stabilizer, way over priced... If your truck still has the slight right hand pull you can use a fox steering stabilizer with a 1. 5" tube clamp (found at offroad shops) and weld a allen head bolt to it for proper positioning, then you carefully let the nitrogen out being sure not to let any oil out and then add nitrogen back in 5 psi increments until the pull goes away... . I have done many trucks like this and works great!(even my dads!) BTW the new steering is slightly bigger than 1. 5" so you have to grind to fit. Placement of the clamp happens right next to the flat spot that the steering stabilizer mount was on.

Source Automotive offers it w/zerks,but a fairly stiff price.

Mine came with a new clamp that fits the tie rod. You do have to have the new style shock but there are cheap. Dual kits require a new connection system though because the mount is offset.

Cerb... the fox steering stabilizer doesn't work with the mount the steering comes with..... If only I could figure out how to post some pic's... . will talk to the wife, am sure she does...

I have always used moog and you can get them with grease zerks. A squirt of grease every 4k miles and they last forever in my experience.

I realize that hence the comment a new shock is needed. Actually it may or may not work depending on how they did the connection to the tie rod. If the OE stud cannot be removed then it will require some work. My duals did not have a stud so they worked.

Are the standard tie rod ends for the 08. 5+ not greasable? The tie rod ends are the only greasable part of my OEM suspension.

Guess i am not sure what you are saying... . Did you read the whole post? I might have been unclear... . Either way you still have to buy a new stabilizer, I was just commenting on how to use the fox stabilizer and the clamp i am talking about is aftermarket.
