Yeah, I think all 03+ owners did.

Have you changed your steering to the new style? If unsure go look at your steering stabilizer, if it clamps to the tie rod it is the recalled style if and if it bolts thru the tie rod you are not effected.

i just took my 04.5 in yesterday. i dont think the guy even bent over far enough to look at the steering stabilizer. He says my truck is fine.

There is a recall on the 05, I have one.... what I read into the recall is that if you had work done on the early recall, you need to go in.... and they are checking and replacing parts based on that first recall... I've read that if you have the stabilizer that is attached to the drag link with a clamp than that system needs to be looked at and if you have the stabilizer that attaches to the drag link with a tapered shaft, like a tie rod.... that system is OK.....

So that's what I know.... to date I've not taken my truck in...

The recall is ONLY for the trucks that have the 08.5+ Mopar Parts steering components installed. It is only an issue if they were installed incorrectly. As long as they are installed and aligned correctly, no issues.

So my 06 had the steering linkage replaced with an original pre-08 (original) style 2 years ago due to a broken tie rod end after an accident. Two weeks before receiving the recall notice in December 13, my tie rod end broke with no apparent cause, leaving the steering linkage dragging the ground and me with no steering at all while on a sheet of ice in a crowded parking lot (big pucker but no damage). Got it towed to nearest shop, Midas, they ordered parts from the dealer (08.5+ version with pitman arm and new stabilizer). So then I get the recall notice, literally two weeks later, not sure if i now need to go to dealer or not. I submitted for reimbursement for the work Midas did (upgraded) version. Completely confused now. Thought I was good because it was just upgraded but sounds like i have it backwards?

If you had it done 2 years ago you likely don't have the latest revision of the 08.5 tie rods. The right tie rod is already pinned so it has minimal movement, the left tie rod was not originally pinned and it could be installed out of parallel plane with the right causing stress at full lock which would compromise its integrity. The update just adds a pin to the right side tie rod tube and a fork to the left side so they cannot be installed out line.

If the left and right tie rod ends are installed in a parallel plane there is no issue. The old style will work the same as the new style if installed correctly so it really is not a huge safety problem given installation is done correctly.

Not really to complicated. If you have a stud mounted s stabilizer they will inspect only and send you on your way after doing some paper work. If you have the clamp on design you will get both tie rod ends and link with sleeve replaced
