I've got 116K on my stock clutch now. I'm requesting some vendors please contact me about a South Bend clutch kit with the flywheel. It's my only vehicle and I need to keep downtime to a minimum. Hopefully just a single day. Thank you in advance.

Mark.

MU-1945 -OK I think? Con O with the flywheel is what I'm interested in. Thanks.

I have a South bend Clutch on my 03. I went with the CON OFE for towing purposes. Shadrach

Me too. The only part I don't like is that it gets grabby and you have to slip it hard a couple of times to alleviate the harshness. From what I understand, thats just part of the technology though. .

You can also contact South Bend directly and they will be happy to talk with you and give advice about available choices based on your unique truck and towing needs. They are VERY accesible and knowledgable. I am still waiting to install the Con-OFE that I won on TDR... I will likely gert aroud to it next mointh as my stock slips in 5th and 6th even at 75k miles.

I just had an SBC Dual Disk clutch installed a few days ago. I went this route because I have a 5th wheel trailer and pacbrake. The Dual Disc was recommended. Pedal feel is a little harder but it isn't grabby at all..... its very much like stock.

The only thing I have to unlearn is the apparent lugging I was doing (especially when shifting to 5th at slower speeds)... . becuase when you lose the dual mass flywheel, the engine is going to tell you in no uncertain terms when you are lugging!

I haven't towed with it yet, but it is friendlier than I was expecting. It's also pricey... . but now thats one less to worry about (Forest Gump).

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your comments. I want the Con O because I don't need anything much more than stock. My truck is mostly a commuter and I tow our trailer only a few times a year and never had a problem doing that with the stock clutch unless I turned the TST up past 3/3.

Any vendors care to chime in here? Thanks.

I'm in the same boat. Stock power and tow occasionally. If the ConO is grabby and/or you use an exhaust brake - you may want to consider the dual disk. Not grabby at all and is said to hold better when using an exhause brake if you have a big load otherwise pushing you downhill !! Its a few hundred more - but if the grabbyness is an issue and you don't like driving the truck as a daily... then the money saved isn't worth it..... IMHO..... YMMV

Why not get another? I could, but then it wouldn't hold the little extra power I do use on occasion. I want an SBC because I don't want to have to worry about it and I know if there are any issues, South Bend will help me. Since no vendors have chimed in, will someone please give me some names of vendors I can check out that you have had good experiences with? Thank you.

Go with SBC cono they work great and if you have a problem Peter will take care of you I just replaced a clutch for Peter that had a problem the cust had it 8 months and peter paid for the whole thing.

Wow. Not a single vendor wants my money after 6 weeks. I can't believe it.

MBerry, I don't think that TDR vendors necessarily monitor all the threads, or even the ones that are titled with their product.

I have never had a problem contacting SBC by phone. Let us know what you choose !!

The cono kit is 700. 00 + freight if you want I will order and have it shipped to you This is the upgrade to the 13"

Let me know

I gotta agree with Jim. Typically in commerce, a retailer will advertise and an consumer will respond. Rarely do consumers advertise their needs and have retailers contact them! Its just much more efficient that way! ;)

Use the power of the web to find your best deal and a local, trusted installer... . or contact SBC via email and they'll be happy to recommend an installer near you (which is what I did).

Good luck!

Thanks Jim and all. The reason I asked here is because I wanted to support a vendor that supported TDR and didn't spend most of their time doing clutches on Honda Civics or only an unknown website.

Thanks again and sorry for the long delay in response.

Very happy with the southbend clutch kit. Takes almost the same amount of time as doing the stock unit. I've yet to have the grabby feel that others talk about. I do tow Oh I went with the single disk cofe kit and the hydro kit. You'll be suprised how much slop was oin the stock clutch.

Finally got the clutch replaced yesterday. I went with the CON-O with new flywheel from TST Products. I haven't driven it yet, but I will this Friday. I'll post any problems and/or observations VS stock unit. I did not do the hydraulics.

Seeing as it has been a few weeks can you comment on the towing with the 5th wheel and pacbrake?

I have towed our 5th wheel (approx 13K lbs) a few times and have nothing but good things to say about the combination. The clutch isn't grabby at all and the pacbrake is a must. I would not feel comfortable towing this camper without the pacbrake. In fact, I leave the brake on all the time.

I did not install the pacbrake clutch switch (which shuts off the pacbrake when the clutch pedal is pressed and so if I take more than a second or so to shift between gears, the pacbrake will come on. I learned to blip the throttle a bit between shifts (since my shifts do seem a bit sower with the new clutch) which keeps the brake from coming on. I think this blip actually helps prevent me from lugging a little and generally results in a smooter drive. I have no buyers remorse for either the pacbrake or the SBC dual disk set up. I also recommend the air bags with incab controller and the bilstein shocks. All money well spent!
