time for a heater core updated now i have ???

rolled into tx last week steam coming out my vents thought it was elec (elc {red cooant} kinda smells like that or iodine)

thought it was my drain plugged and got in the blower mtr but after a further look AND A TASTE of the wet stuff on my carpet i knew it was the core

bypassed it to get home spent 4hr rinsing it out of the carpet cause i know what it does to a pair of wranglers(its almost like batt acid) spent today gathering my info including the link i saw here bout the blend door fix form issue 55 and the forum so ill get with if tomorrow cause the soonest i can get parts is tues. ill do the other fixes well im at it

just wondering if anyone else has had core issues?????

havent heard much of the 2nd or 3rd gen heater cores

is there a qualty one to buy? I shop at carquest or i may go to the dealer for this one

btw

my truck has right at 200K on the clock

Wow, you really don't hear many heater core failures on these trucks. Maybe a manufacturing defect that finally showed up? I'd be curious what you find when you pull the old one.

What coolant do you run?

Ryan

Make sure all the grounds are clean and tight. Change the coolant and use distilled water for good measure.

ok got it all apart

1. 25hrs for my added goodies and wiring 2hrs for the DC part all went well

core had a hole rubbed in it on the line cause i guess it rubbed the fire wall core it self is fine just the line where the hose connects SO MAKE SURE YOURS IS NOT RIBBING THE FIRE WALL

doing all the air box upgrades (defrost door is broke)

WHEN I REASSEMBLE THE DEFROST door does it need aligned??????????????

man i dont wanna do this again

Hell, I took mine apart because I was 'sure' I had a broken blend door... ie, limited cold air coming out. Turned out, no broken door, just a frozen condenser! ... should have rested again before tearing the dash apart. Oh well, when it does break I know how to get to it!
