The alignment shop will instal a Moog DS1314 or DS1413, I can't remember, unless I tell him otherwise. I think he said the Moog bar is $275. What other bars are out there and shown to be reliable, or should I just go with the Moog?

If you are stock height and going to stay that way, look at the TBK at www.solidsteel.biz Darin will soon have an adjustable bar available. It uses the 3 gen track bar, getting rid of the tie rod end that is the weak link of the stock bar. There is also DT Profab and others, do a search. SNOKING

I went with the DSS 3rd gen conversion. I have not put it on yet. The weather has just not been warm enough. I picked up the bracket from extreme diesel for $129. 00 plus shipping($6. 50) which was signifiacntly cheaper than any other place that I could find it and the trac bar from my local dealer was $245. 00 ouch. Looks easy enough to put on and the 3rd gen trac bar does not have the ball joint so if and when the bushings need to be replaced it should be no big deal and be fairly inexpensive. I have read that the moog bars do work well but dont necessarily last any longer than the stock ones but if I recall they have a lifetime warranty. One of the other reasons I went this route was I have a maghytec front diff cover and the DT trac bar and lukes links wont clear the aftermarket cover not sure on the moog.

I use this one (Linstad Track Bar) you can either do a kit to fix yours for get a full replacement bar. Either way will save you over a hundred dollars. I have had mine for 3 years now and have only had to tighten it up once. It comes with a grease fitting to keep the new joint lubed which is the key. Plus they have outstanding customer service, I have taken my truck their twice to get alignment and front end work done. First was three years ago when they saved me over $300 from what I had been quoted from other shops and drove the truck until just about a month ago when i went back cause I had just the slightest vibration and they went through the whole front end and only found one tie rod that was bad, did a new alignment, replaced the tie rod and had me out of there very fast and charged me less than what one of those track bars costs.

I'm quite happy with the DT Pro Fab bar. It's about $350 or so. The Heim joint and adjustability are the main reasons I like it so much. It's made from VERY stout DOM (drawn-over-mandrel) tubing and seems to be as strong as any other design.

For those concerned with the bracketry, just weld the DT bracket in addition to bolting it. The Thuren bar welds, I think, and this is one reason it's so strong.

But the Thuren bar is not straight like the DT bar (can't be as strong in comprssion or tension), and it doesn't have a Heim joint.

Heims are your friend in most cases.

The thuron bar uses a johnny joint on the frame end, these are usually considered better than heims by the off road guys :)

Rip sells them cheaper than the Sealers. But you are on the wrong coast for him, shipping will kill you. If you know an auto body shop guy, they get 30 percent off. SNOKING

If you decide to stick with a stock 2nd gen replacement then buy the bar yourself, I think I paid $140 from Kragen w/lifetime warranty, and install it yourself. It's an easy job.

Dons bar uses the Johnnys joint... MUCH better than a Hiem and lasts longer.

Also the bent part of dons bar (thunderfab) is sleeved, basicly its 2 times as thick, if you bent this bar... . you are replacing quite a bit of front end parts... . One of his test bars was installed on a 2000 Ram 1500, she was jumped 4' off the ground... . didnt bend any of the hardware... :D

If your going to stay the stock height, I would recommend going with the 3rd gen bar since everyone around here seems to have good luck with it. If you are lifting the truck, there is not one PERFECT track bar made for our trucks. All are good and bad. DT is a great design, terrible bracket that flexes. www.thurenfabrication.com bar looks nice but I can bet it flexes more than the DT. SSI is coming out with a bar and it looks the best out of all 3 but I can bet it will still flex and cause problems like the rest.

I'm leaning heavily to the 3rd gen mod. Do you guys think its worth it to wait for the adjustable one in March (as my tires are being torn up) or just go with the stock 3rd gen track arm now.

Solidsteel. biz has a new bracket coming out with two mounting positions and an adjustable track bar. SNOKING
