I bought my truck 100% stock from the original owner. Shocks were blown, exhaust tailpipe was rusted as were the stock wheels and bald tires. So I replaced the shocks with Trailmasters and got some 16x8 wheels and stock size 245/75/16 Dunlops and a new exhaust. Passed inspection with flying colors. Well I'm almost ready for new tires. I am planning on getting a set of 315/75/16's. I'd also like to upgrade my suspension to not only clear the new tires, but also ride a bit better. Here's what I have decided on through researching here.

I am not real keen on coil spacers, so I think I am going to go with Skyjacker D25 2-2. 5" coil springs up front and H7092 Hydro shocks (made for 1. 5-3" of lift). I figured while I was at it I might as well upgrade the rear too as I HATE the factory leaf/block set-up. I figured with ditching the blocks and going with leaf spring only it should ride better, better articulation and hopefully reduce axle wrap and wheel hop. So I was thinking about going with the DR76 leaf springs and ditching the factory blocks. Said it should raise it about 1-1. 5" and I think I'm going with the H7036 Hydro shocks (made for 1. 5-4. 5" of lift).

I guess my only real questions are what do you seasoned vets think? Who has this set-up now and how do you like it? Any other recommendations I may have overlooked? I'm hoping this should be a VAST improvement over my current stock set-up.

The only problem I'm having is finding these rear leaf springs on line. I found the shocks and front coil springs at Jeg's for an awesome price, but they didn't have the rear leafs. I checked Summit Racing and 4WheelOnline and tired Google searching also, but no luck. Where did you guys purchase yours from?

One other question is would I benefit any from the Hellwig rear sway bar? I'm noticed they offered a nice rear sway bar upgrade and was contemplating adding this in while I'm at it. Obviously it would decrease articulation at the limit which I'm not to concerned about because the truck isn't used for any serious off roading, just getting me through mud, streams, light to medium trails to get to camp sites, dirtbike trails, rain soaked racetrack paddocks and the occasional local mountain trails.

Thanks for your time.

be careful with wheel selection for the 315's or you may have a little rub. Everything else looks good, but I would suggest Nitro shocks or better yet, Bilstiens(sp?). My buddy had the same setup you are talking about with a 285/75-16 on 16x 8 wheels. The system worked great!!

I am a litte leary of changing out the rear suspension due to potential changes in the way the truck wil handle a load.

Do you tow real heavy? Do you put a bunch of weight in the bed? If so, a rear sway bar will stiffen up things in the rear. It will also transfer some shock loading from the opposite tire to the other end of the axle.

My buddies truck had death wobble bad and changing out to the Skyjacker components stopped it cold. The tires went on at a later date and they were load range 'E' just like the stockers.

Stay away from 16x10's they rub. I put the 1/2" longer control arms on mine. Also, why you are doing the front end you might as well also put on the DTT Track bar. As for the rear, I'm still trying to decide what to do. Any time I haul or tow anything I blind GOD with my headlights.

I think rubbing won't be an issue. I know people running that size tires on stock wheels and suspension and they only get rub at full lock. I think with the lift and the wheels that I have have less of an offset then stock, they should be ok.

Well I was considering the Bilstein's, but was told they may be over extended since the truck will be lifted? Can anyone else confirm this?

I don't really haul much in the bed and the car/trailer/stuff set-up I tow only checks in at 5,000lbs max.

My wheels are 16x8. I am focusing on the suspension now. My next upgrade will probably be a DSS steering stabilizer add-on, track-bar upgrade kit and '03 track-bar. May change out to Luk's Link's as well.

I purchased Skyjacker front coils and rear leaf spring packs.

Within 2 years, the rear leaves sagged over 2 inches... the front coils sagged 1-1/2 inches. I had to add a 3 inch lift block to make up the difference... . I have a Transfer flow aux fuel cell rear of my axle and also run my truck wih a cap on it.

I'm back to the stock rear springs with lift block and an extra leaf (long one) added and I am running a full coil-over front suspension (King-Offroad).

I've had this setup now for 2 years with no sagging and my truck handles great.
