Its been 3 years and now I'm back to trying to decide on which way to go.I need a 2500 for work since at time I will have to tow up to 15k and at time be able to put 1500 lbs plus in the bed and let's face it HD trucks hold up chassis wise in the abuse on rough roads in the long rd. I am not sure how much it will have to tow but when it does it needs to do the job no if, ands, or buts. When I saw the new 6.4 Hemi and its tow ratings I was impressed and wanted to see more. The main thing was how well does it tow what its rated for and what kinda fuel mileage will the thing get.the average day for my truck is run any where between 60 to 120 miles right away crussing 75 to 80 and then Run around all day in traffic and congestion then hopefully make the return trip at good speed . My 2011 now has 140k. With a smarty Jr and get delete fully loaded at about 10k averages 15 to 16 if I run it at 80 and goes up from there if I go slower. Now today I drove a 6.4 with 4.10 gears here in a test loop with town and highway driving and according to the computer it got right at 13mpg then I drove a new 6.7 with 3.73 the same way and speed and averaged 18mpg. Funny part is one of the sales buys said the 6.4 would get 3 to 4 mpg better than the 6.7 to witch I said we will see. What kinda a real work number is everyone else seeing? Right now doing the numbers based on those numbers at 200k it $9k fuel cost saving on the side of the 6.7. Of counting DEF. It also to look at the extra cost of the maintence of the 6.7 over the 6.4 kinda makes it break even not counting towing mileage. Also is the in k ow of the life expectancy of the 6.4 where we know that the 6.7 will keep going . I plan on keeping the truck well past 200k so it makes since to go with the 6.7 but since I have an owner to answer to I need to have real numbers and reasons not just my love of our beloved Cummins. I just need real work numbers to calculate everything out . I will give the 6.4 credit it has got a good amount of punch especially on the highway but just not sure now it will do with a very tall 28' 13k trailer behind it. My head is spinning trying to run all the numbers on top of every other thing going on keeping my crews up and runing and making sure they have what they need
