I'm looking for any tips/suggestions for my first real experience towing with a gooseneck trailer with my truck. I will be making a trip from Nebraska to Michigan in a couple of weeks, around 1800 miles roundtrip. I will be using a buddies 25' or so gooseneck hauling aluminum window casings on the way up and a new dodge drivetrain and snowmobile on the way back.

Do you think I will have any trouble with my combo? I'm thinking if I just leave the comp box off, I should be fine with EGTs?

What does one of these trailers weigh empty?

I need to get a trailer brake purchased and installed before I go, any suggestions?

I've already got the big trailer plug down on my bumper, does a gooseneck usually have a long enough cord to reach this spot? The previous owner used to have a second plug installed in the bed, but he kept it.

I love the Mach 4's! No disappointments there.

I have been leaving the box off this winter due to a hesitation problem since it is so cold. I've been experiencing the hesitation problem with the edge box since it got cold this winter. The shuddering only got worse when I upgraded the injectors from the DDII's to the Mach 4's. If I leave the box off though, it runs great!

The hesitation or shuddering problem is only when getting on the throttle, accelerating, or trying to hold a speed up an hill that is getting steeper and steeper. I've seen many posts on it here.

I have a heavy duty 25ft gooseneck and it is right at 4800 lbs. I am certain you;ll be fine. Make sure to allow plenty of stopping distance and don't tail-gate as they say.

Question on why you guys run the comp's on 1x1, and not 1x3. ? I understand that 1xX is no additional fuel, but the x1 is delaying fuel to a higher boost level. 1x3 is close to stock fuel verses boost level. So why Xx3? SNOKING

My 30ft GN tripple axle weighs in at 6400lbs.

The brake controller burned up after a few mons was not ment for 6 breaks. So make sure the controller is ment for the amount of breaks.

Get used to going very wide some GN setups can cut corrners worse than a semi does. Rember when doing really tight turns which is a very nice feature of the GN that the traller can go backwards. Like when you go to make a U-trun and have to jack knife it even harder to make the turn.

It sounds to me that you wire tap with your comp might not be making a good connection. I had something similair happen to mine.

Mine did the same thing as well. It's directly related to colder temps, Comp and bigger sticks. Turn off the comp and it goes away.

I too try to tow on 1x1. Better economy and cooler temps. When it's bitter cold, I leav it off as driveability improves.

I ran on 1x1 the past couple of days and it works pretty good even though it is cold. If I turn it up much though, the hesitation comes back. The best way to describe it is like a slipping clutch?

Anyways, now I'm trying to resolve my license plate issue. Currently its only licensed for 5 tons since the stupid lady at the treasurers office told me the weight rating on your plate is only for your truck (not the trailer or load), she originally tried to give me a one ton sticker since my truck is only a 3/4 ton dodge
