Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Tire and Diesel smoke

Sounds like fun huh? Anyway, I have only tried this lately but I cant seem to "PowerBrake" my 01. Im sure I have plenty of power because if I hold the brake pedal and feed in throttle till I have the Turbo singing And Smoke a cummin, Then let off the brake and hammer it... . Wow. Posi for days. But if I try to do a bit of wheel spin standing still, I cant seem to get the rear end to "let go".

Is this a product of Antilock Brakes or Torque control or just plain real strong rear brakes.

I can Wheelstand my 92 easily so I'm thinking that this is a Techno problem. Any thoughts?

If you have an Auto, be VERY careful doing this. The input shaft isn't strong enough to handle that for very long!



The brakes on an 01 are much better than your 92. I'm sure the brakes are holding it.

My '01 does'nt do it either. I think it's the brake's!

My 99 won't brake torque if its life depended on it. . My dad's old 99 3/4 ton would roast the tires off bone stock. . I think mine has somthing to do with the VP thats crappin out. Maybe not will see when I get the new one in.

the 01 auto wont do it very well b/c of the defueling issue on the ecm

Your on the brakes to hard, if easing off the brakes won't work then let off the brakes, get them burning and stab back on the brakes. That or Vice Grip your rear brake line LOL .

you auto guys suck I can line lock my 6speed in low gear with out giving it and throttle and spin em all day... Oh and thats stock too did it the day I drove my truck home from dealer.

Off topic but I have a deal for you. Let me borrow your floor/transmission jack for 2 days and I will buy a clutch from you in less than 12 days. If not I will have to use a Out of state vendor and rent the jack somewhere.

I can power brake my Moms 99 with a 5 spd. put in 2nd get rolling with rpms at around 2500 slowly apply brakes while easin into the go peddle and she will brake the back tires loose then come to a stop and roast the tires :-laf

dump the clutch in 2nd at 2500, as left foot leaves the clutch pedal feather the brake & smoke the tires all day long. after they get warm & gooey grab 3rd.....

Ad The Owner Of An 01 That Used To Have This Problem I Thought Id Chime In. i Had A Blue Chip Apb And The Truck Would Hit 2000 Rpm And Just Start Surging Had transmission Rebuilt By A Lieing Sack Of Crap Brand New Tq And Valve Body Kit Along With New Clutch Discs Still No Power Breaking Turned Out He Installed A Rebuilt Stock Tq After Telling Me He Pit In A Billet Needless To Say Under 4000 Miles Later The Truck Wouldnt Run Over A Pea Gravel. The Tq Had Come Apart And Blocked Everything Up And Burnt My transmission Upincluding Clutches Star Gear Entire Front Clutch Pack So Off To A New Guy To Rebuild And This Guy Knew His Stuff When It Came To Trannies Entire Rebuild Valve Body Kit And A Triple Disk Tq And Not A $1200 One That I Read About Actually Half That. Now This Truck Will Burn The Tires Off All Day With No More Power Than Before. The Good Thing Now Is It Stalls At 1600 Rpm Before The Truck Defuels And It Will Powerbreak With Out The Power Box On Also. Sorry For The Long Post Just Watch Out Who You Deal With And If Your In Southern Ohio Give Me A Hollar Id Like To Get The Name Out On This Dead Beat That Did My First transmission As I Promised Him I Would In One Of Our Heated Arguments. . She asked me if her truck could smoke the tires. I said Don't know never tried of course she didn't believe me, I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because she likes to do the same thing. She calls me to brag about smoking some poor ferd or chuby :-laf or anything else she smoked.
