I consulted with the guys at 4Wheel Parts here in Denver when they had their show last summer. For stock suspension systems, the BFG A/Ts in LT285/75/16 is the way to go. Any larger and you will get some rubbing of the tire against the suspension parts when you turn hard. I've been running these since Oct. Need to watch your speed though as your speedometer will be off (around 10%) with the larger tire size. I found that when my speedometer said 55, I was actually going about 60 (according to my hand held GPS).

What wheels do you have on it? I've got the chrome wheels on my '99 2500 4x4, and they are so narrow, I didn't feel comfortable with the 285, so I put 255/85R16's on instead (BFG MT's). They look and drive great, although with the 3. 54 rear end, I'm a little bit slower off the line.

After working for them for several years, I have found the only time their salesmen are giving accurate information is when their lips are SHUT, anything for a sale you know.

My speedo is off by 5 or 7 mph as well. progressively worse as the speed increases. 80 on the dash is 88 on the road :eek: As per Georgia Patrols GPS :{

I have 285 75 r16's on my '96 with no complaints in its last 100,000 miles on the odometer. (total over 270,000 now). I get a little nervous with a gooseneck behind it, but found reasonable speed and slow curves keep the sidewall roll to a minimum.

I ran 315's for a little while, they were all terrain's, but they scuffed whenever the wheel was turning and I was approaching a driveway curb or parking lot speed bump etc. Way too much side roll with my stock chrome rims to even think about a fifth wheel/gooseneck hookup.
