what is the largest tire that will fit on a 3500 single wheel,

I know 33 1250 R17 fit but will 35 1250R17 fit with out any trouble

and also I have 1000 mioles on truck and I can here a slighthum from the transmission is this normal? I never heard it on my 99 or my 2000 but then the engine probably drowned it out then.

Most guys report the need of a 2" level to clear 315/70/17's. I believe these are slightly shorter than a 35x12. 5

Actually I think it;s more of a 50/50 split... and a good number of folks with the 2" level kit with 315/70/17's are actually doing both at the same time so they don;t know if it will rub or not without the 2" kit.

My '04 2500 NEVER rubbed with the 315's and they stood 34. 5" tall mounted... a "true" 35X12. 50 will be about 34. 8" tall... so there's only a 1/4" difference. And I did not have a 2" kit

I say put the tires on... IF it rubs it won;t be bad at all and if it does do what you need to eliminate the rub.

Bigger Tires

I am wondering if 315 will fit a 2500. I have 4. 10 rear end but I also tow at least 70% of the time. (8500 lbs) and occasionally will pull 11000 lbs. I like the way that my truck pulls but it's a bear when traveling long distances solo. If I can put 315's on will I later regret it .

There is no difference in height of a 4x4 2500 or 3500 SRW... exact same... the only difference between the 2 trucks is the rear overloads on the 3500. . which DO NOT add to height.

With that said my previous truck was a 2500 4x4. . with the stock aluminum 8. 5" wide wheels... ran 315/70/17's with NO leveling or lift with NO rubbing ever. As for towing... I never towed with mine... and again... you'll get a 50/50 mix here... some say it;s fine... others disagree and unfortunately a few folks who have no business saying anything will say not to or that it's ok... . again I say try it and see but that's all I can say as I have no experience with towing with those tires. The 315's are an EASY sell if they don;t work for you and you can go back to a 285 or the stock size 265. Or do what I'm doing and when the stock michelins go pphhtt I'm moving up to 19. 5's.

I have a 2003 3500 QC SB HO 48RE 3. 73 gears Amsoil air filter, stock exhaust, edge EZ and 315/70R17 BFG AT KO I rub a little on the upper control arm for the front suspension at full turn. Even have the same tire in the stock location for a spare. I have pulled 5500 lbs with no problems whatsoever

I have an 2003 3500 and am running 37" x 12. 5" x 17 tires o the stock rims and with the heavey mudding i do i have never hit anything.

Will a set of 315's change the 4. 10 ratio very much--I want bigger tires and would be willing to lose some of the ratio in the rear end but don't know how much it will change?
