tire wear

i can not understand this. i got 20,000 miles out of my stock 265 bfg's. that is pretty much all towing. then put on the new toyo size 285 75 17's e rated. i have 10,000 miles on them with same trailer and same roads and they are gone. rotated them three times. i never drive over 60 mph towing. tire wear is the same. the backs seem to wear a little faster because of the tongue weight. i can not buy tires every 10,000 miles but want something bigger than 265's. what are my options.



tried a set of hummer 315's on last truck with same trailer. had 15,000 on them when i sold it, but they were almost gone.

What tire pressure are you running?

i run 70 psi in rear and 60 psi in front. the centers do not wear out first. they wear out even from center to end.

Maybe 19. 5's would save you some money. If you are wearing out Toyos and the stock BFG's, you probably need a heavier duty tire. I pull a 12K lb 5th wheel and my tires have last 36K and probably have another 10K in them. Scotty
