I notice Interco has Trxus A/T tires in 35-12. 5R17 load range E here. The specs are impressive (3640 lb load rating). But they recommend a minimum rim width of 8. 5".

Anyone have any experience with these? Can you put them on an 8" wide rim?

even the bfg 315's require an 8. 5" wheel, and the stock wheels are 8" with that tall a tire, i wouldn't worry about the ½" inch. you'll just need a little lower tire pressure to maintain proper wear

I have Interco 35x12. 5 16" "E" Range tires on my '00 (truxxs m/t), they are very heavy duty and the traction is amazing but getting them to balance is a major PITA. I even complained to the owner of the shop that I bought them from and he said it was "normal" for large Interco tires to need a lot of weight (one was calling for over 18 oz. ). I ended up using a combination of clamp on wheel weights and that balacing powder (can't remember what it's called) to smooth them out. I have about 15k miles on the now with no problems (rotated twice).

That's good info, thanks guys! I think I found my new tires (whenever these Michelin's wear out). :)

I talked to a rep for Cooper tires today about some 315's in an E rateing. He told me they will not be making anything bigger than a 265 in a E rating. I called because of a new tire they are coming out with called "Discoverer ATR" this tire will come in a LT315/70R17. He told me it will have a UTQG of 500 and have a 50,000 mile warraty. :D The only drawback is they won't be making this tire until close to the end of the year. Just a little food for thought for anyone who wants an alternative to the BFG's

Glad you bought a Cummins!!!:D I have sent inquiries to most of the major tire makers. I myself would love a 34" to 35" tire with factory tire width. There are none available at this time. PS Why doesn't everyone wanting bigger tires in load range E post it here. Then i can send this thread to the to the tire mfg.

how about these, no load range "E". . but a nice size none the less

What load rating are these? How does the tread compare to BFG A/T?

I wish someone would come out with a 315/75R17.

The load range is a "D". It is rated for 3195lbs just like the BFG's. The tread is a little more conservative then the BFG's but to me that translates into more mileage. It is an All-terrain tire though so it's not like a tie for your neighbors Buick. I'll post a Picture if I can.

jpickens,

I plan on going with the 35x12. 50R18 which is a load range E tire I believe. I've e-mailed TOYO, and I'm waiting for their response on the load range. It will require new wheels with the 18" size, but I wanted to do that anyway. Seems like some of the tire manufacturers skipped the 17" tires for us 3rd gen guys and went right to the 18" plus sizes. I priced these tires here and was a little surprised at the prices. More than I expected.

Just get some 20" or 22" semi tires. They aren't that much and they should last forever with our weight.

This was TOYO's reply:

"Yes it is an E load 10 Ply tire. "

Yups that's the one I've been waiting on. I called 3 retailers of TOYOs in WV last week. Got prices right aroudn $175 / tire (give/take a dollar or two)

and Toyo is running a rebate right now as well. $60 off if you buy 4

I got about 5/32 left on my bfgs to burn off... then I'm going to try out a set!

Where can I find out about the rebate? I just had a set installed over the weekend. They are very nice. I got them for $180 each. I was originally quoted $175, but they made a mistake and had quoted the A/T. I got quotes of $198-$210 on the M/T before I found this price.

Trying to find u a link right now... wasn't on the main www.toyo.com site

it was like toyosweepstakes.com or something like that etc.

It's been in the latest issues of 4wheel off road, four wheeler, off road mags etc. etc.

full page ads up to $125 rebate (if of course u buy the mongo 40" toyos etc. ) I'm pretty sure I figured it out to be $15 / tire in the size u bought (size i want

AND it started sometime late in Oct. and runs through Jan. 05 i thinks...

ah! here it is... http://www.toyosweeps.com/

try that...

Hey give me some feedback! haha I'm going to order up a set unless you give 'em down the road... I know you haven't had much time to ride 'em... but whats the handling/noise like? How about the thickness of the sidewall compared to a D rated tire etc? I guess what I'm looking for is comments about their 'toughness' etc.

How about the high load rating? Do they squat much with the weight of your truck at 50+ psi ? I've seen many D rated 315s that only take 50psi max cold and are still squatty looking etc. etc.

THANKS!

So far, I love these tires. Honestly though, I haven't had much time to really test them out. My truck is heavy. I have a small camper on the back, custom bumpers front and rear with a winch up front, and extra H2O and Fuel on the rear bumper. When they were installing the tires, they had to use a floor jack in addition to their big lift, because my truck was straining their big lift. Having said that, I had them put 50 PSI in the rear and 55 in the front. The tires are rated to 65 PSI. At 50-55 PSI, there is no squat in either the front or the rear AND the ride is similar to what my old BFG M/T's were like at about 35 PSI, except that there isn't any sway in the tires on tight cornering. As far as noise goes, you do hear them, but they don't howl like a swamper tire. I find the noise to be less than what I heard with my BFG's.

These tires are beefy! Even the sales guy was commenting on how aggressive they look. I checked them out before they went on and I am guessing that the sidewall is about and inch and a half thick. I compared it to a Goodyear MTR and it is definitely thicker than the MTR.

I am running T-REX/KORE suspension with stock alloy wheels (16x8)and there is no rubbing except when I turn the steering to a full lock, they do push up against the control arms. Again, I haven't had a chance to really pound this off road yet, but so far, it seems like there shouldn't be any clearance problems. The handling is great, but keep in mind that I've also got a lot of air in there right now. At 50-55 PSI and the KORE suspension, it is pretty surprising what you can do in a 9000 pound truck.

I hope this helps. IMO, this tire is the obvious choice if you are looking for an E rated tire. You can run it hard off road, and you could also tow with it. Not a bad combination
