Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) In tank lift pump?!?!?! HELP!

Well I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do here. I bought a nice set of MB Motoring Rocker 16x10s. They had been on a Chevy HD, so I figured they should fit nicely.

I got a set of BFG M/Ts, 315/75r16.

This setup was to replace the stock 16x6. 5 wheels and the worn Goodyear MTRs (315/75r16s).

Well I tried to install today and I'm not sure what to do now. The tires stick out way to far IMO. It looks like one of those Mexican cars with the 13" gold spokes haha. I don't mind them sticking out a bit, but over 1/2 the tire is out of the fender.

Backspacing on both wheels is 4. 25"

Also the new tires reduce my turning radius by a LOT cause they are getting into the front inner fender by alot.

So what wheels should I have gone with? I'm thinking of just putting the new tires on the stock wheels for now and selling these wheels. I'm moving to Idaho shortly, so I'll be able to buy some new wheels there without spending a ton on shipping.

Not one person on this board runs 315/75r16 tires with aftermarket wheels  I searched and I couldn't find a whole lot. I could run newer stock wheels, but good luck trying to find some. H2 wheels... good luck finding those as well.

What backspacing should I go with so the tires don't stick out 6 feet? I'm guessing I need something like 7-8" backspacing for a 10" wheel?

This is what I have, except 16x10s http://www.discounttiredirect.com/d...998&wd=16&pc=70243&rw=8&bp=8-165.1&vid=005487

ARE you gonna be able to run that much backspacing ??

I would think you would be into the steering with more than 6", or into the inner wheel well when turning.

I'd like a few people with 2nd gen 2500s and 315/75r16 to clue me in on what wheels they are using.

If this makes any sense... .

The stock wheels have a back spacing of 4. 25" and a width of 6. 5", so that means the offset is +12mm.

The wheels I got, the back spacing is 4. 25" and they are 10" wide, so that makes offset would be -32mm.

So in order for a wheel to fit on my truck, I need something with a 12mm offset and that would be the same as stock, or 6mm would probably work as well, since that's just 1/4" difference on the backspacing.

Now I don't know of many after market wheels that have a positive offset... . so that's why I'm asking what you guys are running. I don't want to spend my money on another set of rims only to find out they don't fit either.

I'm running a set of Cooper Discoverer S/T's on my stock wheels... granted its a 2000 (8 inch rim?) with 15000 miles they seem to be wearing pretty good, the only problem is they rub on the control arm if you crank the wheel over. I would however do it all again as the turning radius on this thing is plenty tight without rubbing the tires. I also used a heat gun and pushed out the fender liners on the back side of the wheel wells to give me a little more clearance under compression.

Hope this helps

Tim

Yeah the newer rims are 8" which is fine for a 12. 5" wide tire. BUT my wheels are 6. 5", which is why I need new rims.

Whoever the hell thought of putting a rim so narrow needs to be punched in the throat.

I just would like a few people to post up with what aftermarket wheels they have with the 315/75r16 tires. I know quite a few guys are running these tires.

So... suggestions on what I should look for with backspacing and offset?? Anyone?

I made the same mistake you did. Went and bought some 18x9 centerlines. Standard off the shelf product. 4. 5" BS/0mm offset, 5. 25" centerbore. I put 325/60/18s on it. Truck rode like crap... couldn't get 'em balanced, didn't track right and looked ridiculous as much as they stuck out. I didn't have a lift yet so they rubbed too. I ended up biting the bullet and buying new tires for my stock alloys (16x8). Made the whole difference in the world. I sold the 18" combo on ebay. Since you have the 315s, I'd see if you can find a set of of "take offs". IMO (especially after purchasing a set of aftermarket wheels) the factory alloy is very high quality.

Here is an interesting discussion on wheels... filled in the gaps for me. It mainly pertains the the 3rd gen. wheels but the 2nd gen. wheels I'm talking about are almost identical in the offset specs.

That is quite interesting! Looks like pretty much the only option I have is to use the newer stock wheels that are 16x8s.

I called around the yards and no luck. I can get them brought up from California, for the tune of ~$250 a wheel

I have 16x8 eagle aluminum wheels and 315-75-16 pro-comp x-terrains. They stick out a little, not as much as the wheels in the picture.

They are at $200 now, I'm sure they will go up in price as the auction draws to an end. They are nice wheels, but he won't ship them.

I also found this:

He says they are American Racing wheels, but I've never seen any look like that

Turbo359, what model are your rims? I just want to have an idea on the the offset and backspaing is. I don't want to order more wheels only to find that once again they don't fit.

Nate,

I've got 16x8 MB Razor wheels holding 315/75R16 BFGs. I also put on the Xenon flares and a 2" leveling kit.

The wheels are here.

You can see them mounted in my readers rig gallery. I get no rub.
