Hi, I would like to upgrade my stock tires and wheels on my 3500 4X4

any suggestions on the biggest I can put on without a lift? I was at the local tire shop today and he suggested the BFG 285 65R18 All Terr's and the wheels where 18X9 Polished aluminum. Now I am wondering are those going to be much bigger than the stock 17's... ... ..... anyone gone this route? pictures? Suggestion's thanks

They will no doubt poke out of the fenders. The only 18" wheel I have found with the correct offset is from T-rex. That BFG size is a nice size if you like BFG's.

There is another thread going on the 295/70R17 Nitto that fits and is just a tad bigger but if you want to change wheels you would have to find a 17" with the correct offset unless you don't mind them sticking out. I saw some 17x9 american racing wheels today on a 3rd gen and the offset IMO looked awful. Some 2" flares would help.

Some aftermarket 17's are a tight squeeze over the big brakes and 18's seem to fit better for some clearance, bend one just a little and they won't even turn.

Thanks Matt,

I was thinking about putting Fender Flairs on but I guess I too am concerned about how far out they will stick without the correct offset!

Also are they really that close around the Rotors? yikes!

On another note how difficult is it to install a 2 inch lift kit?

I think so, if you were going to use a supplemental stick on wheel weight so not as much is hung on the outside of the wheel you would have to be real careful where you put it.

Pretty easy IMO but you do have to be mechanically inclined. Just a 2" spacer on top of the front coil spring will do, the back is already high enough. I could step you through it but instruction come with the parts. I didn't do mine but did do a friends. You will need a wheel alignment afterwords.

Don't forget the Hummer takeoffs. The price is right.

For me, I'll stick to the factory alloys that I paid extra for. They fit perfectly! They could use some nicer caps.

By the way, 18" Weld Evo wheels retail for $575 each. $435 is a great price for a lightweight, forged, one piece aluminum wheel that fits your Dodge Ram perfectly, has a 3600 lb. load capacity and comes with a 5 year chrome guaranty.

Dang... I want some of those wheels bad!! I can't find a quiet all terrain 33" to fit em :{

Need Goodyear AT/S, Nitto Terra Grapplers, Toyo Open Country, Bridgestone Revo 295/70R18 load E or at least a D. Something, anything but BFG's.

Toyo Open Coutry M/T gets my vote

A friend of mine has 35" Toyo Open Country M/Ts on a old '73 Land Cruiser and I can't believe how quiet his tires are. And this is on a vechicle with half canvas doors a bikini top and absolutly no insulation anywhere. I would say they are no louder than BFG All Terrains which I have run a lot on my trucks.

Toyo makes a 35X12. 50R18 M/T Load Range E, rated at 3415 lbs at 65psi. 35s will fit with no lift or modifications.

Only down side is the speed rating of Q which is good for up to 99 mph (how fast do we need to go anyways). My factory BFGs are speed rated R which is good for 106 mph.

I can't wait to get a set of these on my truck. I also predict that Toyo is going to take a huge share of BFGs market away.

I took a picture of one on my cell phone at the off road expo in Pomona but the resolution is low and I didn't hold the camera / phone steady enough and the result is a picture so poor it's not worth sending.

Kent should be able to post one though.
