I have a few questions and don't know what to do, so I'm looking for some help. I have a 2000 truck and don't know if I should bomb it. I just had the lift pump replaced under warranty, and was also wounding what are the benefits of bombing my truck?

I was thinking of going with the Edge Comp but wont that also void all engine warranty if some thing has to go back to Dodge, my mechanic is cool he said he wont void my warranty as long as I don't put my finger in the pump or I should say wires .

So my main questions are,

If I put in the Edge Comp do I need to beef up the tranney? It is a 5 speed with 24,150 miles on it.

What are the benefits of doing this?

What is the down side of it?

Thanks for any and all info.

If your worried about about tapping wires... go with an Edge EZ box. Then you can unplug it and go to town for warranty. :)

Get some RV275 or DDII's or BD2's or other type of "mild" yet completely streetable injectors. Cant really hurt anything there.

Go with an AFE MegaCannon air filter for good flow, a nice 4" exhaust system, and a good set of gauges to keep your eyes on the critical stuff.

I dont think any of that is "dangerous" to the engine and you'll probably like the extra power... . thats the benefit. Maybe even better fuel mileage. Oh ya... spend the money for a nice South Bend Clutch setup to make it all last.

The negative side is mostly about... . well... I cant think of anything negative about the stuff above. Sorry!!:D

Bomb?

Straight pipe,K&N, silencer out? Sounds like you've already started:D . Get gauges next to monitor stock performance readings for a while. Then begin some mild bombing if you are interested in more power, better acceleration, improved pulling power. I did gauges etc. early on, and waited till past 3\36 to add a PE Comp. ( have not tapped into injection pump yet, transmission upgrade first). I'm not concerned about 100k warrantee, you may feel differently. With your 5 sp. , a Comp alone, or injectors alone, should provide a very nice boost with no clutch problems. Taken together, a clutch upgrade will be necessary, but I believe the transmission itself holds up OK. Despite what some on "the dark side" say it is possible to bomb slowly, in stages, especially if thats what your budget dictates:D . I would highly recommend the adjustability of the Comp, from off to 5X5, pump tapped or not, very versatile! Once some "improvements" are implemented a stock truck feels like a slug. JimG.
