Pete. . you are correct. Dodge had Cummins refund a lot of money on e brakes purchased for auto transmission guys. The manual transmission guys are still covered by warranty, but it is cummins, I believe, that stands behind it... not dodge. Cummins gives a 100,000 mile warrantee with each one sold.

Blkdemon is correct... you can still use all of the other upgrades, just not the hx40. Piers of BD fame just came out with a new turbo that does what the hx40 does, but allows the use of the e brake. I know it is on a 12 valve(check the 12 valve forum), but do not know if he has one for the 24 valve yet.

Had the Dealer install mine and haven't questioned it a bit... .

I had them install the switch in the top of the Black Hole located just in front of the shifter. Much easier to reach and out of sight.

The exhaust systems bolt onto the back of the exhaust brake,so any exhaust you get will bolt on the same way. The bigger diameter exhaust system start out at 3" at the bolt flange just like the stock exhaust,then flare up to 4" or 5"-whichever size you get.

The HX40 mentioned above is a high performance 4" turbo available for guys that are pushing mondo horsepower. The 3" exhaust brakes and 3" exhaust don't fit this turbo.

Hello everyone.

I am a new member, but have owned a Dodge Ram 2500 24v since 1998. 5.

I really like this site and the information it has.

So, as I ordered my 2001 3500 4X4, HO, 6 sp. 4. 10 I have a few questions.

1) I want to get the Jacob brakes from dodge, warranted that way.
Has anyone used jac brakes on stock exhaust and do they affect the performance, my dealer says no.

2) If I go to a larger (Banks type) exhaust in the future will I have to replace my stock exhaust brake?

I believe that the only modification you cannot do with a turbo-mount exhuast brake is put on a HX-40. You can still upgrade the exhaust but just not go to any turbo that has a larger exhaust outlet.

Will your dealer back-up the warranty on the auto-transmission with the E-brake? That's why I haven't gone there(yet). The way I understand it D. C. said E-brakes and auto's were a no-no.
