I am seriously considering a set of 5 inch miter cut stacks for my 02, what do i need, where is the best place to buy them, how much should i expect to pay, are they a good idea, i like the way they look, but are they a liability (paint damage, burns to self and others, other problems), are they hard to maintain and keep looking good, any and all help/suggestions are greatly appreciated

Thanks

Kevin

also how much bed space should i expect to lose to them. I have an under rail tool box, but still want the bed to be functional.

kevin... . you can shoot TDR member "LSFarm" a PM, he sells stack kits... TDC member "DLeohnard" purchased a stack kit from him last fall brawl and i have heard nothing but good things about it from him. also, check TDR member "Oasis-3" readers rigs, he has his stacks parts list posted online, that will give you part numbers and a good idea how much your looking to spend if you dont want to purchase a "kit" type deal.

JUST GET THE STACKS ALREADY KEVIN!!!! :-laf  once your stacked, you'll never go back! aint nothing better then listening to your turbo sing to ya! i have minimual soot issues after a rain storm, although i drilled really small holes to help drain some of the water out of my "y" pipe.

i dont have problems keeping my stacks clean, i use mothers chrome polish everytime i clean the truck up (yes i know i clean my truck like everyother day. #@$%! )

Kevin, I got my complete 5" kit from www.chromedepot.com $400. 00 delivered. The company makes kits for the big rigs, started using the same process and technology (sp) to make pick-up kits. The use 4" flex under the bed, then a 5" "Y" in the bed to the 5" stacks in either straight, turn-out or 45's. Puts the top of the stack just above the top of the cab. If you are interested e-mail me at -- email address removed -- and I will try to get some pics of mine. Tom

I am working on an idea where i part it together from iowa80.com so i can have a solid 5 inch system with no reductions until i get past the flex pipe, then i can work it down to the factory size pipe i have now, that should leave me plenty of room for any and all future upgrades to the exhaust system on the truck.

ok, Turbodiezel, you will be happy, I bought my first component, i have a new set of 5" miter cut 36" tall stacks shipping out on monday, as soon as i get the money together i plan to get the y pipe and all other parts needed to hook them up from www.blackclouddiesel.com. I can't wait, if they are as good as you guys say they are i shouldn't be dissapointed.

Unfortunely, I used 5" Peterbilt mounting clamps and they were not tite on the stack. What I did was cut a piece of 4" pipe I had in half and shimmed it tite with that. No one knows but me because it was close to being tight.
