To the Victims of Virginia Tech

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families and friends of the 32 people killed in the senseless shooting rampage at Virginia Tech. It is very difficult to know why anyone would do such a horrible act. If TDR Admin wants to take up donations for the victims families I want to donate.

I teach High School so I have been watching it very closely. I would have done the same thing the professor did!!! Not sure how many know but the professor that was killed trying to save his students was a Holocaust Survivor!

It was a senseless loss of life. My heart goes out to those left behind. There is a famous quotation. "To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die". As with all school shootings the warning signs were there and not acted on. It takes an insane person to go on a shooting rampage. He was known to be insane long before he acted as were all the others but NOTHING was done. We did not learn from the others lets hope we learn from this one. He should at the very least have been watched 24/7. Our wonderful "Authorities" chose to do nothing, not watch, nothing. Those responsible for the do nothing decision should be replaced with people that know how to lead. Politically correct does not work. We need real leaders.

Yes, but maybe that's why he survived the holocaust. Perhaps his mission in life was not over, but now it is. His selflessness saved who knows how many lives. We can, in fact, should mourn the senseless loss of lives; more importantly, we must celebrate the heroic acts of those who, in saving many lives, lost theirs, at least their earthly lives.

Very well said J. BURCHFIELD. Maybe we should all be aware of people with strange behavioral patterns and report them to proper authorities in hopes that they can get help before something like this happens again. I know, this guy had been reported and nothing was done.

Any act such as this has both victims and those who with 20/20 hind sight saw it coming. None are right. It happened for reasons we will never fully understand. Here is hoping that the Colleges find a way to protect their students properly, and that hopefully, nothing like this takes place in _ANY_ school ever again. VT (Gods bless you), MIT, _ANY_ school. Here's hoping that they all wake up. . Smell the coffee and realize that no matter how hard you idiot proof anything, some idiot will prove you wrong.

I have been watching the schools (and other government buildings) slowly disarmed over the years. No one thinks about this. If our most vulnerable (kids) are unprotected because their (or guardians) rights to self-defense are infringed shouldn't they have serious protection systems (armed guards, metal detectors, fast lock-downs)? Most have nothing and in an armed culture our kids are literally magnets for demonically inspired murderers. Is this on purpose? Is this a long-range plan of pushing an disarmament agenda on the blood of innocents?



I believe that those who pushed to have our campuses disarmed in a sea of constitutionally protected access to arms should be sued and jailed. Heads should roll. In 2002, two armed students stopped a psycho at a small university. He still managed to kill 3 before being stopped but he had a lot more killing on his mind.



Denying us self-defense is about as cruel as it gets. Like sheep we go along... denying the dark side of human nature. I pray the blood of these kids turns back this slide into darkness and we restore our campuses ability to resist evildoers. Deterence works.

I have watched the hysteria about guns for years. The anti gun advocates have with the help of biased media have sent the wrong message. The unloaded gun kills, an impossibility but it influences the wrong way. Guns kill people. Do they pull their own trigger as they would have us believe. People kill people, rarely with a gun but over a hundred a day with their vehicles. We must ban the automobile immediately. It won't happen, It could never be done. We saw what happened in Australia. Guns were baned and crime went up 44%. Why, criminals ignore any law they do not agree with. They kept their guns and are using them to rob and kill and leave no witnesses. For them (the criminals) it is the best thing that could have ever happened. To prevent another VT incident students with concealed carry permits and faculty should be allowed to carry on campus. VT voted it down 2 years ago. Lets see if they have learned by their mistake. Another thing, a very big thing, was allowing the ACLU and others to take GOD out of our schools. Why should we care what an atheist thinks or wants. Like the ACLU they should have been ignored. In HONOR of the 32 that lost their lives at VT and in other schools I am writing on the back of every envelop I mail out (no matter where it is going) IN GOD WE TRUST. Hope you will too.

Just got my concealed carry classes and shooting test done. Even though I am pretty good at the target range,I have a long way to go to be a proficient combat shooter.

Although I shot 80% or better in the lethal area at 21 feet,I know that I must practice to make sure that this comes automatically under stress.

Unfortunately,Ohio law is pretty much confined to a permit holder defending only himself and his family in a situation such as described here. That would pretty much dictate defending only when the bad guy pointed the weapon in your direction.

When I retired in OH I moved to FL and we already had the "Shall Issue" law here. OH now recognises my FL permit. It took them a long time to get on board. If all the states had, had the Shall Issue law and the stupid air lines would allow you to ride armed with a CWP 9/11 would have never happened. We still have too much hysteria about guns. So much hysteria that even an unloaded gun can kill. I have tried to figure out how it can load itself and pull its own trigger.
