12v air compressors/inflators - question

I will be traveling 1100 miles in my new 3500 w/8' bed to pick up my fifth wheel trailer. The hitch will be installed at my destination. I will need to bring a bed full of essentials for the trailer and will want to protect them from casual theft and the weather. Some time this Summer I will want to install a combination tool box/aux fuel tank - will ask about that later. When all this is done I will want some type of tonneau cover. Bear in mind I will have the flush tool box and the hitch to consider.

Now the question:

what can I use for the trip down to provide the protection I mentioned. I think something better than a blue tarp. This will be a temporary measure until I can find a permanent tonneau.

I bought a Pace Edwards Full Metal Jacket and so far I love it. I Have a B&W 5th Wheel Hitch and it will cover it when not in use and it will lock at different locations. This may be the answer for you, guess you'll have to check it out.

As far as a temporary cover, I'd say your best bet is an Extang Trifecta or Rugged Cover, both are similiar although the Rugged Cover will be less expensive than the Extang. The covers are a soft vinyl cover that can be installed or totally removed in about 60 seconds. There is no permanent hardware to install. The only downside is that someone could cut open the vinyl.

There are a few options for a permanent hard cover (after you get a toolbox). Undercover makes a Boxbuddy cover, Retrax also offers a cover to go with toolboxes. I don't think Pace Edwards makes a cover that will install with a toolbox.

Update.

I chose the Bak Flip folding cover for security. Some of the parts didn't arrive in time for my trip so the dealer overnighted a Truxedo soft cover. Nice cover - went on easily and had no leaks. When I got back from the trip the BakFlip parts were waiting so I removed the Truxedo and installed the BakFlip. Much harder install as this thing weighs 80#. Some parts were missing and others were not installed by mfr. correctly. Got it on and it works but I found out one thing - you need gloves to to open and close it after baking in the Summer sun it gets HOT.
