Competition Mopars At The Strip...

Competition DHRA & Buick GSCA (calling all buick/CTD owners)

I decided to cut the rev limiter wire. I noticed a big diference in top end pulling. It seems to pull harder. If anybody else trys this please tell me. I'm just interested in how other trucks respond to this mod.

Are you shure I was doing 120 Officer :--) :-{} :(

You Mean

Are you talking about the speed limiter? White wire with orange trace? I think that wire may be associated with the ABS system and the speed sensor. It is supposed to let you exceed 120 on the speedo I believe. Maybe it eliminates some defueling as you get near 120 as well.

I finally got brave and tried mine with the auto transmission tonight on the way home from work. It was still pulling really hard when the speedo quit moving  Fast enough for me!

yeh, I put up a post about this last week. It might just have been a seat of the pants thing, but it definitely felt like it pulls harder on the hgihway with the wire clipped.

Thats what I thought

I am almost positive that it makes it pull harder. I just wanted to hear some feedback to verify that I am not going INSANE.

The wire

This wire AKA speed limiter, AKA rev limiter is located on the driver side directly over the valve cover. It's the white wire with the orange stripe coming out of the male large connector attached to the firewall. GOOD LUCK

rev limiter?

Are you guys saying that by clipping a wire we can rev the 24v ISB higher than 3400 rpm? Which wire is that one? and how much rpm is attainable then?

Thanks

Whatever you do, don't cut the one behind the air box. Trust me:D The one you are looking for is just to the drivers side of the center on the firewall. It is in a bundle of wires that are going to the ecm

heck I just realized you have a chevy, you probably wont have to worry about the wrong wire. In our trucks if you cut the wrong one you lose your speedo and odometer, guaranteed to set a code

Here is the deal

Put a switch in line. You need the switch or you will lose the cruise. When you want to take her up high. Just hit the switch. Mine runs like a raped ape now after 2800 RPMs doesent flat top any more.

Thats what I have been thinking about doing. I just haven't had the time to get it in the garage and it's been to cold to do it outside. #@$%!

Both of you should check out Ntimadtr's truck

White W/ orange tracer ... ..... the same Pto wire? or did that cinderblock to the head really do something to me?

Well, out of curiosity, I clipped mine. My SOTP meter told me that it pulled a little harder, but I haven't had an occasion to really put it to the test.

I did find out about the cruise control thing. Another thing I noticed, was that my truck liked to chug at low speed (edit: engine speed) with the wire disconnected. It was a little temperamental at clutch engagement, too. Since I put the switch in, it's been back to normal.

BTW, put the truck in cruise and flip the switch off, full throttle cruise!! :D At least the cruise still turns off when you hit the brakes!
