Maybe

Maybe we are too old to appreciate these songs? Naaaa. Out of 100 I would listen to eleven of them. The rest are pretty much crap. :D There are many good musicians/music out there right now, why must they base all there decisions on popularity? Most people wouldn't know good music if it reached out and bit them. :D

Wail,

It seems to me that the list was drawn up by a 30-year old Rock DJ.

If that's the "best", it might be even more interesting to see a list of "worst" - there might be a lot of good songs on it!

Having been exposed to most, if not quite all, of these, I'd be willing to simply re-title these as "Worst" and let it go.

BTW, I'm a Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tex Benneke, and Kenny G fan who also appreciates Alabama, Shania Twain, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Alan Jackson, Peter, Paul, and Mary, The Doors and The Mamas and the Papas.

Do these list-makers even have a clue as to who STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN is???????

#ad

BTW, as I was reading this topic, I was listening to all 15 minutes of his live version of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile"

My sentiments exactly. I am partial to "Texas Flood". "The day the music died" was when the helicopter crashed. Even though the whole bar used to sing that song when they would play it at Eskimo Joes. :D :D

MMMBop from Hanson? WTH What a crappy song.

I listen to classic country mostly, but I still like alot of songs from other genras.

Very narrow-minded list. They missed pretty much all the great songs.

Well, in all fairness to the ones who made this list, Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crash was in '78 I believe, which is before the 25 year cutoff for this list. I know the band is still around, but their best was definitely in the mid-70's. As for the Grateful Dead, what about "A Touch of Gray"? That was put out in 1987.

I guess what goes around comes around. My folks can't stand the music I listen to, and now I'm old enough that I can't stand the music that teenagers are listening to today!

All I know is that you can't beat that good old long-haired rock and roll from the 70's. But I also like the 80's hard rock and heavy metal.

To each his own, I guess.

Andy

(P. S. , in my posting above, I guess I should have said "was" instead of "is" in my reference to S. R. V. )
