WARNING to dually owners!

I cant believe no one has mentioned Slayer. Also without Black Sabbath we would still be listining to the mamma and pappas

I am disappointed that none of you guys mentioned some of the hottest female rock ever put down on vinyl, from the fabulous decade of the 80's:

- Madonna

- Cyndi Lauper

- Toni Basil

Ha ha ha ha I can't even type that with a straight face :p :-laf :-laf

I liked some of the 80's music, but BOY the 90's were tough - suffering through "The Great Rock Famine" just about did me in. The 2000's aren't looking all that hot either - too much rap, wimp rock, and American Idol "I'm a sensitive vocalist" gargle-bop... . God I'm sick of seeing people on stage doing the little emotional hand-stretching things - I wanna see crazy-looking hairballs running around on stage breaking guitars and eardrums and setting stuff on fire DANGIT! GIMME ROCK!

Kids today desperately need some frantic punk metal - time to bring the Ramones back from the dead!

Man, I'm not gonna lie, I loved most 80's music. I loved Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Tears for Fears, Genesis, and all the one hit wonders. The 90's were a little tough, but if I had to pick a couple of bands from then, I'd go with U2, Alice in Chains, and Smashing Pumpkins.

I think the group of the past few years that will be legends in the end is Nickelback. . They have put out some GREAT stuff in a very short period of time. They have the whole package, and as big as they are now, they WILL only get bigger. If you don't have them already, as a rock fan you owe it to yourself to go out and buy "Silver Side Up" and "The Long Road".

I liked Everyones responses but I would like to add

3 Doors Down

Disturbed

Godsmack

Audioslave

and Creedence

Hmmm

Lynard Skynard

Sex Pistols

Ramones

Clash

Billy Idol

I listen to so many different things from Bluegrass(my favorite) to Donovan to the Sex Pistols. I am one confused soul :-laf

:-{} Hate Jazz and Rap with Equal enthusiasm.

I've always had this thought in the back of my mind... . if you would take the Wilson sisters from "HEART", and put them with everyone from "STARSHIP" (except Grace Slick), you would very possibly have the greatest rock band of all eternity... .

I know he's not a band but Ted Nugent aught to be in here some where. April Wine? Blackfoot? all of these and more is why i have a randome button on the CD player!

Saw a story today - one Stones ticket at the MCI Center in DC was close to $550 - still less than the over $600 for a Three Tenors ticket a few years ago. Of course, I have a (rich) friend who paid $1,000 apiece for tickets to a preview showing of Star Wars Episode II a few years ago - but he got to meet George Lucas and the money went to charity.

Man, I like the Stones but thats too much cheese. . I thought I was being robbed when I paid $90 for 5th row to see Rage Against The Machine and U2. . Although that seems like one hell of a deal now. .

Eagles

Journey

REO SpeedWagon

Moody Blues

Lynard Skynard

Honorable mention goes to a modern band... ... The Blueman Group

Classic rock peaked in the middle to late 70's.

Hey, something I can agree with JH on (though I know diddley about the Blueman Group) - the Eagles are one of the best alltime. If this was my Top 50, every one of JH's bands would be on there 'cept the Moody Blues - nothing against them, they're just lower down my list.

The Stones had some pretty good songs, but overall they are are bunch of sick monkeys. Any man that wears lipstick, even occasionally is a... ... well you know.
