depends on when you are planning on using it... launching in 4x4 with stock shafts and then locking it as soon as you're moving, yes, it's bad... you won't have input/output shafts for long.

Locking it once it's in 4th (it should be locked on it's own anyway) and using it to help you slow down going down hill or something, or when using an exhaust brake, as long as you turn it off before it needs to downshift to 3rd (it won't downshift from 4th once you lock the switch unless you unlock it), it shouldn't hurt anything.

Use at own risk, no gurantees, warranties, or other implications... things can/do/will break... . etc... .

i am only using it at the track after my 1-2 shift and my truck is 2wd. . . i have the full dtt kit and im hoping i will be ok, im actually pretty sure i will be.

in and out. yes...

ok, i wanted to wire up an LED to my switch to know when my TC is locked, i hooked up first, and everytime my TC WASNT locked it was on, which is annoying, so i switched wires, and now, it wont come on at all? how did you guys wire it up?

Nother thread on same subject

Check that thread and probably PM wsmalley as he has an LED hooked up.

Cummins4Life tried hooking one up and kept setting codes... he decided he needed a diode in the line somewhere to keep the current you're using to power the LED from feeding into the PCM.

Don't think it would take much to wire it up through the switch though... . have the LED grounded to the ground wire of the switch that ISN"T on the PCM side with a diode between the LED wire and the switch... . not sure though... . maybe someone whos in the know better than me can think this up... I don't even have a switch!... . yet... .

hook the red wire of the led to positive 12volts make sure you use an led that has a diode in it to handle the 12volts you can get it at radio shack take the black wire and wire it to the switch one side of the switch should be hooked to your orange wire on the pcm the other should be hooked to ground so the led should go on the side that is hooked to the orange wire so when the switch is on the led is on and when the converter locks normally the led will also come on hope this helps Aaron

I want to give you a heads up, I see on your profile sheet that you ordered your parts and you guys built your transmission in Dec. of 03 . I am pretty sure you arent running my Billet shafts as I didnt see any mention of them on your profile sheet and I know we definately dont make billet 2WD output shaft. We opted to build the billet intermediate shafts instead for the high hp guys. That was a more logical choice in the chain for the high hp guys for us. Do a quick double check with your transmission guy on the material used in the shafts you are running. I know there were a few shafts we tested and steered away from as I was able to break them in the testing phases. Better to be safe than sorry. At any rate have fun at the strip guys and maybe we will see some of you guys in Muncie.

hey Stefan,

i had my transmission installed by BMD at the end of November

great transmission absoulutely love it ...

had a lockup switch prior to the new transmission, haven't had it hooked up since, don't need it now

would there be any problem, warranty wise, to hook it back up for the dyno run at muncie?

assuming i've got a bigger turbo by then ...

Hi guys

You guys you seemed to be quite knowledgable on the mystery switch. Using the TST Lockup setup,

will the transmission work normally when the switch is off?

I wanted to use it with a push button for engine braking.

Thanks great site

thanks Stefan, will do ... don't really need it to drag, transmission seems to do just great all by itself ... just thought it would make dyno' ing easier
