Does DTT have a web page?

Any truth to this?

I am a newby to this forum and hope someone out there can shed some light on a problem. My '96 Dodge with the 47re was rebuilt at 33,000 miles and has since experienced problems with the lockup feature. New stock TC was installed as well. Cruising down the highway, if you touch the brake, or rapidly take your foot off the fuel, it unlocks as it should, but then refuses to relock. If OD is locked out , it refuses to lockup in 3rd. If OD is engaged and start from a dead stop, it goes thru the normal shift squence including lockup. However, it locks up at approx. 32mph. instead of after OD as the manual states. Which is correct? The dealer says my lockup for this beast is normal and there is nothing I can do with it, but it wasn't like this before, so I have a hard time buying into it. Dodge states the '96 "is a breed all of its own. "

Any ideas? Heat isn't a factor, as I have pulled off the freeway, and started from a dead stop and it shifts/lockups normally.

I am no wizard at trannys, but I do know that my 98 with 90,000 miles on one ( abused ) transmission locks up in overdrive after about 45 mph. not in third and od. I don't think that is normal, nor is it a good thing. Make dodge fix it. Good luck.

Sorry, this sounds confusing, if you lock the transmission in overdrive, then it will lock up in 3rd, but if in overdrive it won't. hope thats clear.

It sounds like the kickdown cable that runs down to your transmission may be out of adjustment. (The one that moves the lever on the drivers side of the transmission when you press on the accelerator) You need the service manual to adjust it although there is some good info in the TDR archives. Or it's possible your TPS might not be adjusted correctly or is dirty. It should not lock up in OD at 32 MPH. If you have a 4:10 rear axle they lock up at about 40 MPH and the 3:54 normally locks up around 45 MPH. With OD switched OFF, they lock up at 25-35 depending on axle ratio and how hard you are stepping on it.

TC lockup

I was surprised to see the quick response to my post; that's what impresses me about this site, is the helpful people here.

Dodge isn't willing to do much and told me to get a second dealer's opinion if I didn't like theirs. I will check out the cable and hopefully that or the TPS is at fault. I checked the TPS awhile back for another issue and it checked o. k. then, but stranger things occur.

The 32mph lockup when in OD is way to low and causes the engine to lug when pulling, so I switch OD off to knock the TC out.

I failed to mention in the earlier post, the line pressure has been tweaked per Bill K. direction, and it shifts great.

Thanks again.
