As I remember, the 45/5500 tow hooks will bolt up but only one set of holes line up with the existing frame holes on 25/3500 frames. Should be easy to adapt.

Does that mean drilling of the frame is required? Do the 4500 tow hooks go directly to the frame?

I'm surprised to hear about the issues with the 2500/3500 tow hooks. They're the same ones used on the power wagon and I imagine those vehicles see quite a few recoveries. Maybe the issues with the 2500/3500 hooks aren't widespread?

I'm not sure if the frame get's drilled or the hooks. If you google the 45/500 tow hooks, some web sites will pop up about it.

I'm sure I will get flamed for this BUT, I mounted a front receiver behind the tow hooks to carry a 12.5K winch. I have pulled what some would call stupid amount of weight with this configuration. The only changes that were made was to the hardware that mounts the hooks to the receiver bracket then to that plate. (Increased to Class 10.9 M12). Granted, I haven't pulled straight down or straight up but everything is still aligned the way it was when I bought it. The guy that bent his bumper must ate a big bowl of Wheaties, used chain straps and drove like a mad man down some rough dirt road.

Just my 2 cents.

Poor DMF when engaging in a 3rd gear start / recovery pull. :-laf

Oh. I was thinking about a rolling start without using the starter. (Using a hill to get moving and popping the clutch out without engaging the starter.) I've done this down a hill with and without a trailer attached. Smooth and seemless. Seems i misread the comment.
