I have been looking at 26-27 foot trailers lately. Mostly Artic Fox, Layton, and Jayco. They all look about the same with similar floorplans, but I carry a lot of stuff (everything I own it seems). The Fox has a carrying weight of 3760lbs, Layton 2680, and Jayco 2230lbs. Based on this alone, the Fox looks the best to me. Anybody got some input on these manufactures? The slideout models of course (180lb English Mastiff). :D

I have never seen a negative comment from a Fox owener on any of the forums. I love ours. Very high quality workmanship and they support their product. The insulation and heated tanks are terrific. Check sig for more details on mine.

Arctic Fox

We just went through the same hunt that you are now going through. We also liked the Jayco, Layton, and Fox. I suspect the reason the Fox has a greater carrying capacity is the 16" wheels (bigger brakes) - somthing I think is a real plus. We picked the Arctic Fox 27-5. It was more expensive than the others but we think that you get a lot of extras in the Fox that aren't available on the others. Fox example: 16" wheels, shocks, insulated holding tanks, assist handles, awning. I sound like a commerical but that's the decision process we went through. We also talked to Ken and some local folks who were very satisfied with the Fox.

I don't think you will go wrong with any of these brands. If you don't already have a brake controller, consider the Jordan. Not that hard to install and they seem to work great. I've got mine set so the trailer brakes just start to grab right before the truck brakes begin to take hold. Works very nice.

Good luck in your shopping. One last comment - get a Fantastic Fan - they are the best $$ we have ever spent.
