:confused:last week on the way home from the track pulling a 24ft box trailer (about 7000 lbs) the truck last power from idle to about 1000rpm it was just dead after a 1000rpm it gained power and pulled fine. thought it was the transmission and replaced the solenoid and pressure reluctor. after that checked the codes and had these P0217,P0483 had them cleared NOW when you press the accelerator down and have it in gear there is no response and the engine bogs down and the turbo will start to spool up to bring the idle back up to 700-750rpm. no power til after a 1000rpm shifts fine both in t/h and t/h off has anyone had this problem.

5.9 no mods early 48re trans with kickdown cable:confused:

the vistronic is good. yesterday after a test drive the accelerator worked you could hold the brake press the accelerator down and the engine would rev up normally. turned the truck off and it went back to going the same thing anyone know whats happening here

the vistronic is good.

If it is throwing the code it is NOT good. Might not be the fan itself but the harness or ECU, or, it could be the fan. A short in the fan will shut the engine down. When the throttle acts up like that disconnect the fan and see if that helps. Since you cleared the code and there was nothing obvious on the gauge for overheat it sounds like you have electrical issues. Fan is a culprit at times.

Some early 2003-4s had the fan clutch connector rub on the radiator, so check that. PO483 generally means it is time for a new fan clutch; get it from Mopar as the aftermarket ones have been unreliable. You might not get the codes again until pulling and getting enough heat that the clutch should be engaging.

ok replaced the fan clutch (vistronic) no codes showing now but still the engine bogs down when you put it in gear almost like the convertor is trying to lock up and the accelerator pedal does nothing. the engine will start making boost and pull off after about 10 mph the skinny pedal works and the truck runs fine anybody have any ideas
thanks

Couple of things could be wrong. The most likely is the sprag clutch in the TC stator has locked up. Does it run ok once you get up to about 25 mph, shifts fine up and down after that, no stack shifting or early shifts? If so time for a new TC.

If you have early shifting, sticking in gears or stack shifting into OD could be an issue with the lockup and OD solenoids or the transmission pump.

run great after about 10 mph shifts fine no early shifts or sticking in gears Changed the od solenoids did not help pricing new converters now

A month or so back I had to put a t/c in a friend's 07 mega cab with nearly 300k on the original 48re. It would load the engine at idle and really struggled to pull away from a start when loaded. We knew it was new trans time, but it wasn't in the budget. A tc got it back on the road and maybe build the trans this summer.
