Line-X on dually flairs and RV

If you want a good laugh, watch the video here with audio narration by the Chevy driver.

He is pulling a gooseneck flatbed with a "superior" Chevy Duramax and thought for sure he could overtake a guy in an old Gen II Dodge pulling a fifth wheel trailer and Jeep. The story is about ten minutes long and took place on a hot summer day on I-10 near Junction, TX.

Interesting video

Awesome!!

I saw that video and was laughing all the way through it!! I still laugh at the newer chebys as they are but ugly.

It may not be stock but its a heck of alot cheaper and will out last the chevy. And i didn't see any smoke at all from the dodge. In a bit of defence of the poor duramax, having that truck on the trailer backwards realy put a huge huge drag on that truck.

Interesting, when I compared identical 2005's, (except for rear end ratio) all one ton duallys,

I came to the conclusion that it went Dodge, Ford and a DISTANT 3rd was the GM offering...

Even though it was an 04 it had the LLY engine and I couldn't tell if it was the 5spd allison but if it had the LLY it probably had the 5spd. I know it was over heating because I had to drive the 05 LLY 3500 for the company I worked for and it was always running hot. That is the weakest link on those trucks and the LBZ was even set up to run warmer normal operating temps than the LLY. If you ask a DMAX owner how long his clutch fan stays on for, even with no load he will have a long story about over heating just like the Video proved.

The only way they sell those is heavy advertising and brand loyalty. Here in so. Cal. they are perceived to be cool to own ,but the truck I like to out climb on long grades are the mighty Tundra's and there best [F]full size [/FONT]pickup truck. :-laf

That was the best promo film I have ever seen Chrysler corporation should pay this man for that video. Our Duramax brother should have found the nearest Dodge dealer with his GPS and traded on the spot.

Did you see this one?

Diesel Pickup Truck Reviews - Ford, GMC, Dodge - Video - Towing Capacity - Popular Mechanics

Popular Mechanics compares a Ford F 350 DRW, a Dodge 3500 Mega Cab DRW and a GMC 3500 SRW and proclaims the GMC the winner!

That was the first article I read when I got the issue..... They do a good job of pointing out the fact that the cummins has much more pull than the others even though the "numbers" are virtualy the same.

My beef was Dodge got 3rd "cause it drove/rode like a truck". If I wanted smooth, cushy ride and a plush cockpit I'd buy a Lincoln... ... .

My personal thought is he was videoing that for GM to prove it was overheating when towing heavy and they ignored him so he uploaded it on the net to embarrase them into a solution. TDP has lots of those threads and the moderators will edit them out or move it to a unpopular forum. I used to be a member when I had to drive the 05 DMAX and they would gang up on me and call me a troll and then edit the post. One time I was accused of trolling and the moderator warned me to keep it cool that they didn't allow that sort of harassment (just the truth) and banned me form even looking at the posts visitors could see. Well I wasn't born yesterday and used another PC user name (my wife's) and saw that they were belittleling me and posted crap that the moderators banned me supposedly for, even the moderator joined in. When I confronted the moderator, he humoured me and then lifted the ban when I told him to take a hike and your site is just a GM paid add site and you are hippocrates and did not want to be assoiated with TDP

The chebby is pulling quite a load, but the driver is a moron, riding in the #1 lane making people pass him on the right.

RVTRKN:

Your post is interesting. I had read comments before indicating that negative posting was discouraged on both the Ford and GM sites but yours is the first complete (and believable) story of an actual case that I have read.

I'm amazed that buyers of any product could be so brainwashed, so blindly, stupidly loyal, that they would refuse to believe that other owners had experienced problems with the product and attempt to crush the messenger. I guess it is like the followers of Charles Manson or Jim Jones or even very similar to American political parties and voters. Only a psychiatrist could explain it.

I was threatened with eviction recently from the NuWa (Hitchhiker RV) site for posting factual anecdotes about Ford 6. 0 trucks that I had experienced as an RV transporter. Ford owners were outraged reading the truth about their trucks. Amazing.

Well I believe it is the intention of the sites that use that psychology to use that very fact of blind loyalty, the persons that engage in the bashing are encouraged by the moderators and are always followed up with a seemingly innocent and new owner (member) testimonial on how great the latest product is. It is not on the same post but a new thread started after the criticism. A good example of this, is do a search on the TDP and look up all posts and threads by RVTRKN and you will see the pileup on me, but what you can't see is the wonderful product commercial after the bashing. If you were to actually look that up, I did not engage in negative posting until someone started challenging me on my actual experiences with the DMAX I was driving at the time and total lies about the CTD. I admit that I love Dodge and have only owned Dodge trucks and might be considered a blind loyal fan but I pay to have the write to post on this site, the others are free. I know I'm on a soap box now so I will end it with this last statement.

If Dodge had constant major problems over and over again my opinion would be heard first on this site without the threat of banishment for truths experienced. That is why I like TDR and the true information concerning my trucks for bettering my knowledge on them.
