I'm interested - but save me from digging through 11 pages of postings.

What's the cost estimate? How many people do you have so far?

Thanks!

Installed!!!

I just got done putting the Mirrors onOo.

Couple things... .

1. Get the mounting brackets from the dealer, you will need them
2. You will need 6 new 6MM nuts, the ones from the factory are too small
3. There is not much thread sticking out of the brackets, you will prolly need two people to push on the mirror while you set the nuts

Other than that they work great!!!

OK, I got a set of DG49ELR heated power mirrors in the mnail today.
These have a 6 wire plug, and my '96 has a 3 wire (red, green, & blue) connector to the power mirrors.

Does anybody have the wiring description for the 6 wire plug? Can I still use the '96 mirror control switch? If not, what's the easy (and cheap) way out of this?

You could sell them to me at half price, that would be real easy!!!!:-laf:eek:

Just kidding. Actually, do a search for the power tow mirror conversion( or something like that) I remember a thread from a few years ago where someone posted a wiring diagram for hooking them up in the older trucks.

Thanks! The wiring on the Kool-Vue DG49ELR mirrors is similar, using the same wire numbers you have above, and copied below - the colors for the 6 pin connector are as follows:

1. White - up/down
2. Yellow - right/left
3. Blue - common

4. heater - black
5. heater - black
6. empty

The left mirror works as follows:
-----------------------------------
Blue . . Grnd ... . Yellow + ... move out
Blue . . Grnd ... . White + ... . move up
Blue + ... ... ... . Yellow Grnd ... move in
Blue + ... ... ... . White Grnd ... . move down

The right mirror works as follows:
-----------------------------------
Blue . . Grnd ... Yellow + ... move in
Blue . . Grnd ... White + ... . move up
Blue + ... ... ... Yellow Grnd ... . move out
Blue + ... ... ... White Grnd ..... move down

OK, now that I've got the wiring in the connectors figured out - see just above. What I'd like to make are some adapter cables to go between the mirror's 6 connector plug (above) and the 3 wire connector plug in the '94-'97 doors. I got a couple extra 3 wire plugs from a wreck (to plug into the door harness), and I can't find any source for the 6 wire male socket like is in the '98 and later trucks. All the dealer can suggest is to order a complete door harness (~$130) (ha!). Junk yards don't want to cut a connector socket off of a good door (want to buy the whole door?) (no!), and the few junk yards that let you wander through the yard don't have anything as new as a '98.

So the question is - does anyone have 2 door connectors, or know where I can get them? If I could find a bent up late door, that would be a good source.

If I don't have any luck with this, I'll cut the connector off the mirror pigtail and put a different one on it.

Hey, I just got my kool vue mirrors and my truck didnt previously come with the towing mirrors. I called my local dodge and asked about the reinforcement plate and they told me there was no such thing. Does anyone have a part number or something i could use. I put them on without it and they shake pretty bad just shutting my door and going down the road. I hope there is such a kit to fix this. . Thanks.

From post #54 in this thread:

55156129AB - BR LH Reinforcement Plate

Go in and watch the look on the face of your parts guy at the dealership when he looks these up.
