Electric over hydraulic conversion

Arkansas State DOT has been pulling over and ticketing 1 Ton dually pickups pulling large backhoes and dozers recently around NW Arkansas.

There is a lot of construction activity in the area and many trucks out there everyday pulling big backhoes and even large dozers.

My neighbor pulls a JD 650 with his 2003 CTD 1 Ton every now and then.

Maybe the large 5th wheel RVs will be next.

Mine is within limits.

The State DOTs may be wising up!

they get you here by setting up temporary weight stations and if you are over 26k and you dont have your cdl your :{ . I have gone through at 33k w/ my 98 3500 and was ok. they did check for safety equip. such as chains & brakeaway cable were hooked up!

The person that told me pulls some with a Dodge 3500 and a larger dump truck. He got in trouble with the backhoe and the Dodge 3500. He maintains a CDL. The State Troopers were specifically concerned with the GCVWR. He uses a pintle hook setup pulling a heavy dual tandem axle equipment trailer.

An interesting note... . as you go past the weight stations in CA you'll see a sign that reads ""no pickups allowed"" or ""Pickups do not enter"" at their scales..... so they just run you around them..... Interesting how each state looks at this in a different way... ...

I travel OR, WA, ID, NV, UT, CA, & MT and have never had a problem.....

Just a thought... .

I know in colorado the hwy patrol look at bumper pull vs. goose neck differently, goose neck/fifth wheel is considered one vehicle and your manufacture recommended gcvwr is just that a recommendation, and they add your trailer gvwr and you truck gcwr and that is your gcvwr. they dont have the same outlook toward bumper pull trailers.
