All I just had my transmission replaced and my first time out towing I noticed that there were times that the truck was like hopping, jerking, rear end bouncing, etc it was really wierd! It would do it on a straight away and it wasnt like that before. Any thoughts?

I would definetly take it back to the guy who did it and let him explain why your truck is different now. I would hate to think you spent your hard earned money without getting them to fix the problem. Dont get m ewrong I am a DIY guy but when it comes to trans work i leave that to the Professionals.

Did the driveline get serviced while it was out??

Carrier bearing installation is critical and can cause funny vibrations as well.

My 2 cents... ... ... ..... John

I noticed this also when my TC and VB were replaced... . at highway speeds and new TC locked,it will give you a jerky or shuddering type feeling when at lower RPM's. I didn't see any boxes or electronics in your sig that would give extra timing but on my truck with the Bully Dog Module on,the timing is so aggressive that the truck would shudder at low RPM's in OD with TC locked. Since then,I only use the Smarty when towing which offers better mileage anyway and much less smoke. With OD button on and towing heavy at 55mph,the shudder is gone completely. I don't whether i have had a problem and this procedure is masking it,but this what ATS told me after upgrading my trans and thus far has worked for 2 years with no further issues.

Bob,

I didnt get your pic, what is that?

Also, No mods to the truck other than PacBrake.

The carrier bearing was not replaced, should it have been?

I have ridden/driven many trucks with trailers on them that buck and bounce on poor roads, with the suspension in the pic it won't happen :)

Custom leaf packs, custom valved 3" king shocks and long travel air bags all from Carli suspension.

The road along the Salton Sea used to be very bad with all kinds of dips and big rollers. The stock trucks were terrible when towing. With some well planned suspension mods my truck does better towing than the empty trucks through the same stuff.

Bob,

Whats something like that run? ($$)
You can log on to Carli's site and click on"dealers". Go to Poly Performance in Morro Bay. He posts many of Carli's products and prices. I can vouch for the long travel airbags as being vastly superior in ride quality and travel to the Ride Rites. I've had both of them on my '07.
