Could the TPS be going out again??? This week the pain-o-matic in the 95 start going in and out of lockup and in and out of overdrive...
History of this truck... it now has 155,000 miles on it... At 120,000 we had the dealer install a NEW trany and converter... This lasted for about 6 months... and it started again. . they adjusted the trany. . (they said. ) and it would be OK for a month or so... this lasted a untill the new trany had been in about a year. . (about 135,000 miles) The dealer installed a new converter. . (under the trany warrenty) This lasted a few more months, and it was back to its old tricks... We told them about the TPS, but they kept telling us that this was NOT the problem, and that all the readings were OK with the TPS... After them adjusting the trany. . and it not fixing anything. . we purchased a TPS, and again were told that this was not the problem, and we would not be able to return the part... (It is a Dodge part. . not a Cummins... at least that's what cummins says. . two different senors... whatever. . ) We installed the new TPS and she has gone 1 yr and 3-4 months with out missing a lick. . until last week, it when in and out of lock up a few times... we changed the fuild and filter (did this to install the trany temp sensor) Monday we had the recall done on the throttal cable. On the way to the dealer it acted up a little, but on the way home it really was acting up!! I do not think that the cable install had anything to do with this problem??
Can it be the TPS again?? We have not tried adjusting the brackets that the TPS mounts too. Is there a way to check the TPS, Ohms check?? Could it be the brake switch?? (the brake lights are not coming on. . but I know that some of these switchs have multi contacts inside, each for different functions) Just can't believe that another $200 is switch is bad... or is it... Just need some help... we sure like this truck when it is shifting ...
Thanks for your help. . and opinions...
