To those who recently ordered a truck how do you track it online. I ordered a truck yesterday and I would like to follow it's journey to the great state of Rhode Island. I already did a search on the topic and it showed me something from DodgeRam.org but it says that as of March 2002 that service was no longer available. I know some of you are tracking by reading your posts so I would be grateful for any help

I understand that after 9/11/01 the details of rail shipping are not available from the railroads. You can get status codes from DC customer service about production with the VON (Vehicle Order Number) or VIN, but once it is shipped the information is sketchy. Mine has been at second rail arrival for about 5 days, and I expected it to arrive any time. I want to take delivery on 2/1/03.

I just tracked my truck to Toledo, Ohio. It arrived today. UPRR let me track it on there web site. Along the way it transfered to Norfolk Southern. They gave me tracking information over the phone. I got their number from their web site. Get you car number from DC. I should have my truck by the weekend!! Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

my truck avoided the ship... it's been on a train since it left the assembly line in mexico. it made a few stops yesterday in IL. i'm not sure what is going on w/it now... looks like it might just be sitting and waiting... :(

i'm going on a road trip this weekend and would really love to take my ctd...

then again, i'm still trying to sell my ranger and i'm starting to get calls on it (it finally snowed, i'm thinking that helped)... maybe all of this will work out... Oo.

Crebelein,

Your train car was transfered to the CPRS railroad. You will not receive updates on the UPRR site. Is your truck going to Canada? If so you can track it on their web site.

to be more diligent with who we provide our information to. If you are

shipping through another party, please contact them for your info. If you

contact your Account Manager to be approved OR please provide us with some

recent unit numbers that show your company name on our (CPR's) waybill. We

are happy to revisit any request. Thanks and have a great day.

that kinda upsets me and i don't understand the "security" around this but oh well... somebody @ uprr gave me a phone # for cpr that will give me tracking info anyway  i'd just prefer to do it on the web... i'm not sure why it got shipped the way it did... according to this map it could have gone uprr the entire way (just though ia instead of il)... oh well... can't change it now...

Called D/C today and my truck went D-1 on 1/31 and has a ship date of 2-12 on a Union Pacific rail car. She's a Mexican which is fine with me because my current '03 was built there also and the fit/finish is very good. Does anyone have any guess as to how long after it's shipped before it makes it to the dealer. I am in R. I.

Rosco,

Mine was shipped on Nov 6th and I took delivery on the 22nd. The big hold up is at Port of Laredo for customs. Since 9/11 things have tightened up. Get the UPRR number from Chrysler Customer Service and you can track it on UPRR's site. You will have the information days ahead of the dealer. Once that train gets rolling you can see it's progress through all the towns on the route. Your truck will get onto another rail system in Salem, IL and then probably go to Selkirk, NY or another terminal in the NE. After that it is just a wait until it loaded on a truck to your dealer.

My truck arrived in Ohio on the 1/29. Still waiting for it to be delivered to the dealer. I was told this could take up to 14 days. The truck is only 3 hours away :{ I could push it here faster.

I actually hope the truck doesn't show until mid-end of march so I can avoid mounting the snowplow until next fall and she won't see salt until next winter. Although, we can have a late snowstorm here, I saw one on April 1st a few years back.

mine is sitting in a lot, and has been for a week now, that is only about 10 miles away...

i told the dealer to mark it "hot" guess they didn't do that. i told them that i was coming to pick it up tomorrow and if it wasn't there, i going to drive 30 miles and buy one off of their competitor's lot. total bluff, they don't have any that i want, but it seems to have worked. i guess i will find out for sure tomorrow.

The truck is here. Just got a call from the dealer. :D I get to pick it up tonight. This is my first diesel and I'm very excited to become apart of this great community :)

Your gonna love it. Good thing I have a diesel already or I would go nuts waiting for the one I have on order.

Rosco, you are encouraging. I ordered on 1/28... maybe mine is getting close to being built also (seems real fast compared to when I ordered my 01). PS. . unfortunately since I sold the '01, I'm driving a rental until the new truck gets here... a chevy cavalier (ps. i'm 6'2" 320lbs :( )
