where is everyone getting traction bars for these trucks. Do they make them for 2wd trucks? i just want to stop some of the axle wrap when i am pulling my trailer. Will they change the ride any?

lazarsmith.com , VERY NICE TO TALK TO AND BARS ARE A LITTLE UP THERE ON PRICE BUT THEY ARE GREAT , NICE TO INSTALL AND LOOK GREAT, CALLED HIM A A COUPLE OF TIMES FOR ADVISE AND HE TOOK MY CALLS AND ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS . TELL HIM BOB FROM RHODE ISLAND TOLD YOU TO CALL...

Glacier Diesel Power used to have ladder bars for our trucks, I believe they were entirely "bolt on", no drilling or welding.

I am looking at the Pro Comp traction bars.

they are bolt on, they do not get in the way of inside the frame air bags or even over the spring air assist bags.

price is reasonable also. they come in different lengths, depending on style of truck.

Pro Comp Traction Bars - Dodge

the 72500B set is about 51" long which is shorter than the 72501B set.

they also look like they will work on a standard height 2wd truck.

i have called Pro-Comp 2 times for technical advice and they have been very helpful both times.

i probably will be buying in the next week or so, along with an airbag assist system.

hope this helps

Jim

I did not see any for an 01 and with the price of the others i think i might make my own. i was looking at the ones from lazarsmith.com that is ridicules i think i can make every thing that he as there for about $200 and just as strong if not stronger.

after looking at all of these rod ends and stuff i might just build a 4 link and put air bags under it. i just wonder what style of 4 link would be the best for these trucks... .

You are asking the wrong guy here. I don't make any bars. I have used caltracs on several trucks. both 2wd and 4wd, and have had good results.

LaserBob

o ok. i was worried that i offended someone with my comment about the price of the bars and then building my own.

The Lazarsmith bars are garbage. I've only had them on my truck for just about two years and they've rusted pretty bad. They're bubbling with rust along the entire length and the finish has flaked off in spots. They were powdercoated, but apparently there was no attempt at prep or material storage before coating.

Add to that the non-lubeable farm implement links used for rod ends, the crappy packaging, and the drama that ensued when I tried to get a replacement bracket that fell out of a hole in the box (due to the packaging), these bars are not worth the money.

Getting rid of the axle wrap made the truck drive like a completely different vehicle though, mostly plusses. Unfortunately, I'm gonna pull the bars off though; I don't trust the Lazarsmith "quality. " If the front end of one of these things fail and dig in, I can't imagine the hurt it would put on the truck (or me).

Traction bars = good

Lazarsmith bars = bad

do you have a recommendation as to a good set? i am thinking i still might make my own as i am very particular and have a very good eye for attention to detail. in my personal opinion i can probably make them cheaper and better then what i can buy them from anyone. but i will say i am always willing to consider the purchase of a produce thus the reason for asking.

I only have experience with the Lazarsmith bars, so I don't have a recomendation for anything else. Although these bars prove that anyone with some fab skills and a welder shouldn't have any problem making a set.
