Garmin Street Pilot Iii Deluxe ?

Question for the smart ones

Here in Idaho, Oregon, Washington and probably in more states. When yo go by a weigh station that is closed, slow down and drive in onto the scales. In our area they leave the scales on. Nice digital read out usually above and to your right. You can read them from inside your cab. Get your truck weight, trailer weight and it is interesting to to have someone out side guide your trailer axles on one at a time and see how much weight is on your front axle and rear axle.

Are you overloading any tires? Each axle should be about the same weight in a perfect world.

Anyhow you can use the closed weigh stations and they are at the right price. Free. :)

I would have never thought of that,since that is where the law hangs out, I would tend to not go there. But next time I see one closed, I think I'll venture by and see if they leave the scale on, thanks.

or go by when they're open. I've done it (even called first) and found them to be most happy to weigh even an empty truck, which of course is an important number to understand. I walked into the building first and spoke to the weighmaster or whatever they call the person there, and they said yea, just go get in line with the big rigs. I did, and they took a printout of my weights and walked the paper out to me.

gotta admit I like the 'drive by when closed' idea. thats just too cool.

Okay this brings up another topic How much does your truck weigh?

96 6380

03 7070

Both with me and full of fuel.

I was real surprised that my trailer weighed almost 7000 pounds :--)

Last time I scaled, 8,350, 140 gal fuel. Don't think I added anything of much weight since then, but I've lost another 10 lbs. If someone would find me a cheap aluminum hauler bed I could shed another 300 lbs or so. Hint. . . hint.

I guess Colorado thinks we would wear out their scales, they barracade them when closed.

Me, my truck, near full load of fuel (185 total) and a gooseneck hitch. 8180. So without driver and the extra gallons of fuel (20?)around 8100 empty! I'm not to much of an F. B. I'm the 200# part.

Wow, the 03 Dually weighs that much???? Mine looks to be the same as your except for the air ride, don't know how much that adds. Oh I just saw the extra 130 gal fuel tank, that is close to 1000 pounds right their. So that would bring it closer to 8500# which is what I was guessing it would be at. At 9650 you can only get 2,350# of pin weight which isn't much depending on how much you are pulling.

I don't have an empty weight, but loaded I scaled at this.

Truck = 11,860# (4,720# front 7,140# rear)

Gross = 29,980# (18,120# trailer axles)
