If a picture is worth a thousand words...

I purchased a used 2006 with a tow package factory installed. The previous owner installed in the rear of the bed a six pin connector for use with a horse trailer. I want to install a 7-pin to pull my fifth wheel in the bed in place of the six pin. I found in one forum a reference to 8W-54-2 thru 6 wiring diag. that was being discussed in a four pin application that also has 7-pin information. I can not understand these diagrams to get to the level of the wires at the rear of the existing 7-pin. Is the anything available that would show the 7-pin plug wire connections at the rear of the plug ?

eTrailer.com sells a Reese wiring harness for exactly this purpose. Some RV dealers may also carry it.

You remove the connector with wiring harness from the seven pin plug at your rear bumper, insert the T connector of the new Reese seven pin extension, plug the wiring harness connector back into the T, and route the new seven pin extension up through the bed sidewall to the mounting point, and you're finished. It sells for about $60.

Thanks for the input. I am going to purchase the adapter kit from Reese to keep from creating problems with the monitor system on the truck.
