Slowing with an Auto transmission

money in hauling?

I just got a different truck and due to my previous experience wired in a relay to run the trailer's clearance lights. I wired it in the same as I had done on my other truck. This is where the fun starts. I pulled our trailer a couple of times and the clearance lights seemed to work fine. On sunday I was returning home from a team roping jackpot and the clearance lights would flicker and sometimes would stay off completely. I checked all connections and the ground. I thought it might be the wired that I ran back so I ran new wire. I am getting fluctuating voltage readings and never 12 volts. I have bypassed the relay and checked it same thing. The gremlins are hiding underneath the truck. Maybe I got a bad bunch of 12 ga wire from napa 100 ft roll.

Any help would be appreciated

i agree with rbeard. before you spend alot of time elsewhere, run a good ground to the trailer--even a long jumper from batt neg. i told my mrs years ago to remind me to CHECK THE GROUND. more intermittent troubles from the ground than from 12v+. check the 12v+ with the good ground, also.

Thanks Guys

I did as you said and ran a ground wire right from the battery back. This seemed to rectify the problem. I thought I had a good enough ground but I guess not. I'll test her out in a few days.

Thanks again
