2017 Ram 2500 68RFE. The transmission jerks or wants to lunge forward when going from reverse to drive (for example when backing into a parking spot and wanting to pull forward a bit)? Any help is much appreciated.

Do you put your foot on the brake when transferring from reverse to drive?

I know with my truck the engine idle speed is enough to allow the truck to drive itself into the garage without using the accelerator pedal. I always use my brake pedal to hold the truck from moving, when changing directional movement such as forward to reverse.

Y'all ought to try an EcoD... I still remember the very next day on the first start, I let it warm up for a minute, then put it in D and I wasn't pressing too hard on the brake, and gosh, I almost went through my garage door!

Bill K told me that once also . The hardest thing on a transmission is getting stuck and rocking it back and forth. Cheaper by far to get a tow truck.

If you haven't done a transmission service in a while; I would be interested in seeing the valve body accumulator plate at the Rev/Low accumulator. Here's a picture of mine from a few weeks ago. The transmission case kept it from blowing all the way out.

Did the problem start after the service or was it there before service? Check and make sure the fluid level is right at the top when warm, these things are picky about fluid level. There have been issues with either the wrong filters, bad filters, or failed installation causing issues when a service is done. The trans should not do that when going from R to D, or form D to R. If it started AFTER the service, it is likely an issue with the filter install. If it was there before service could still be a filter issue.
