I have a transmission line riding hard against the frame cross member below the engine. When I try to move it away it just snaps back. I'm considering putting some split loom over the line. Anyone else had this problem, if so what did you do to fix it?

Yeah I had that problem, mine wore through before i noticed it... Luckily it showed itself with a puddle in the driveway before a 700 mile trip. Otherwise coulda been VERY costly on the interstate... There is a plastic mount that it is supposed to snap into to keep it up off the frame rail. Mine is broken. I put some wire loom around it at first, then replaced it with a piece of rubber hose. It's been fine for about a year now...

Good thing you noticed, it could be a very expensive repair. The 1/2" cooler lines are made of steel or aluminum depending on the year, and neither one will last long if allowed to rub on surrounding structures. The section were it 90's from the transmission - runs along the transmission pan - then 90's again to go to the fluid heater is a stout area. It most likely would not stay even if you did manage to tweak it a bit. Rubber lined Loom clamps would be a great way to isolate vibrations and hold the lines apart from them selves and others. If that proves to hard, you should at least try and separate the line from the cross member with some thick rubber or foam type material.

Thanks for the help. Luckily the lines are steel so the abrasion isn't too bad yet. I think I'll stick a piece of rubber in there until I can get some of those split loom clamps. For those who haven't done so yet, you might want to check those lines.
